Overall it was a pleasant stay however there were a few things that stop me from giving a 4 star rating. Melanie and Melissa were great, very helpful and accommodating. The location is good, walking distance to the train station and Champagne Houses. Our standard room had a bath, but our first morning we ran out of hot water. Internet is free, bed very comfy.
Housekeeping however, let themselves into our room twice, when the "do not disturb" sign was on, without even a knock. Not great since there is another review with the same problem...
Breakfast is on the light side, for 15 Euro you would expect more. The eggs were over-cooked  also.
The rooms are noisy, we stayed on the 2nd floor and you can hear the guests above. Floor boards in all rooms make the noise quite loud. You also have to pay 6 Euro if you want to use the coffee machine in the room (???).
Beware any travelers wanting to change money in Epernay - it appears that there are no money changers in this town! Would only recommend a one night stay here, after a couple of Champagne houses and lunch, there isn't much else to do.

Room Tip: Take a room on the top floor!

Stayed here for one night as we wanted a nice place to finish the holiday but it does not quite measure up - coffee machine that you need a degree in computer science to operate, right out of tissues in the tissue dispenser, 3 Euros for a tiny "mixer" can of coke in the minibar, a herd of baby elephants upstairs.....and breakfast better be damn good at 15 Euros a head !!

Stayed three nights at this wonderful hotel - and we would love to return. It is well located and within walking distance of many restaurants. Lovely room with a nice bathroom and excellent shower. Cleanliness was excellent. Overall the hotel has a lovely feel to it with old world charm. Melanie was on the front desk when we arrived and she was extremely welcoming and helpful, and speaks very good English - so our first impression from the outset was excellent. We were also assisted by Melissa on the front desk who is delightful, knowledgeable and could not have been more helpful and recommended a wonderful restaurant to us.
Our only negative would be the breakfast is very basic for the price charged - if not for this I would have made my rating Excellent.

This hotel is just like an American Bed and Breakfast. The one girl working when we checked in was also the concierge (and we learned in the morning that she was also the one who served breakfast). She was so delightful and pleasant, even though she is clearly overworked. She also spoke perfect English. The hotel is just a few blocks from the train station, so if you are taking the train from Paris, its very easy to walk from the train station with luggage. The lift is large enough for 3 adults and 2 large suitcases with some room (which is unusual in France). The room was gorgeous. We were by the stairs so there was a lot of creaking and such, but we could not hear any voices. The room was quite large for European standards and had a lovely soaking tub and a large stand up shower with 7 shower heads and a wand. We walked to all the champagne houses and really enjoyed the champagne bar at the hotel. The other girl working the day we checked out wasn't as pleasant as the first girl, but I imagine is has something to do with all the different jobs they are required to do.
The bed was very comfortable and the room had plenty of room, along with a minibar that help our bottles of champagne that we bought.
I absolutely recommend this hotel and would give it 5 stars if they didn't work the front desk girls so hard.

Dear guests,

We are quite astonished about your comment about the staff. there are 8 persons working at the hotel for 12 rooms, 2 persons to serve breakfast, the days of work last 8 hours, the staff have 15 days of holidays in summer so in high season and 2 days free per week... And the wage of the staff is 10 % upper than the other hotels of the region!
If we had a caretaker + a baggage handler + a person in the breakfast , the price of our room would be 400 euros while our prices are only on average at 140 euros and some guests find our rooms expensive !

I cant help but agree with the previous review from Sydney_chick. I agree with all the positives but would add to those that i did find the staff very friendly and helpful. It is a pretty hotel and it smells lovely for some reason!
Floors are creaky, but we put it down to the size of some of the guests more than the building!
I agree about the price being too high for breakfast not being included, though it gave us a great excuse to have fizz for breakfast at a local champagne house!
Perfectly located for champage houses, town centre and nearby bars and restuarants. it isnt a big town, but good for a couple of days

Room Tip: we were on the first floor, it was noisy above but we coped

I really wanted to love is hotel, and it has a lot of things going for it. Here's what I liked and what I didn't:
Positives..
Central location, you cannot beat the position of the hotel.
Decor is fresh, modern and very pleasant.
Facilities are good.
Shower is excellent.
Parking is super close, 50m away and 12.30E a day, not too bad.

Now, the negatives..
Reception staff were not very friendly, but not a big issue. When we were checking out she was obviously very busy.
Floors are VERY creaky. After 7.30am I could not sleep at all, you can hear people walking in the stairs, but the noise from the room above was the worst. Nothing that you can probably do about it as it's an old building. Just be aware. If you are a light sleeper this might be an issue. We were in room six. Maybe other rooms aren't as bad.
Room maids will just enter to make up the room without knocking even though I put the 'do not disturb' sign on.
No breakfast included. When you pay £145 a night, this would be nice. Especially when you have to pay 5 euros for coffee in your room.

Overall, I would probably not stay again, but the issues stated above for me might not be a problem for anyone else. It's a beautiful hotel and I think it could be number one with a couple of changes.
