We visted in late Fall, early November and the gardens were still spectacular. incredible layout and meticulously maintained by 12 caretakers. Hot houses in the back of the property generate all of the seasonal flowers and vegetables. We only toured the gardens and were not disappointed.
Very highly recommended

We came to Villandry only for the gardens and did not tour the chateau itself. The gardens are exceptional and definitely worth the visit. We took the suggested red route marked on the visitors map. It goes a bit into the woods where you get a amazing view of the Chateau and the gardens.

This currently privately ownned chateau is another masterpiece of world architecture. Well kept by its owners, it is actually famous by its wonderful gardens. Not to miss! Breathtaking!

The home is average historical building you can see better examples in the area. However the grounds and gardens are fabulous. There’s a maze, kitchen/herbal garden, floral, decorative garden, woods, and more.

Even on a cold dull day the gardens are jaw dropping! The house is worth a look, but it is the garden that is the star of the show! There are so many vistas to see the garden so well worth walking round the whole area to enjoy every aspect. It is a photographers dream! Would highly recommend and would say that it should be on your list of places in the Loire not to be missed.

Perfectly manicured gardens are spectacular and a beautiful chateau. We were there in September and the gardens were in full bloom!

The main reason for my visit was to see the gardens. They are typically formal French gardens with hidden twists here and there. Superbly laid out and maintained. If visiting both chateau and gardens, the visit starts with the chateau and the leaflets provided give plenty of information and suggested itinerary.

We went on a cooler day in mid-October, and it was still beautiful! Even out of the season the gardens are stunning. Definitely take your take walking around and looking at everything. The inside was beautiful, too; the checkerboard hallway gallery is worth taking your time in. I'd give it about two hours for a walk-through. Also, while great for adults, I don't think this would be a fun excursion for children.

We did not go inside the chateau, but the gardens by themselves can take several hours to fully appreciate. All different types- ornamental, herbal, a maze, a kitchen garden, and others.
