“Fascinating on a number of levels, gardens, art, history, social history...”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

I went here last September (2012), with my son and his partner. It was easy to find with PLENTY of parking (free). We explored the Chateau and the Gardens, you could make the visit shorter if you only visit the gardens (which is cheaper). The gardens in September were beginning to 'go over' but there was still plenty of colour, roses, vines & grapes and some lovely little separate gardens as well as the famous Potager. The photographers among us especially enjoyed the 'wild' garden planted to attract butterflies and insects. We also found an exhibition of art in the gardens. There is a childrens playground where you can also picnic but there is no restaurant inside the grounds. The house is very interesting, especially if you take the audio tour - much better than a guided tour as each member of your party can go at their own pace and access additional information on something which particularly interests them (e.g the architecture or the art/ sculptures). There was an extensive video history of the current owners and their forbears, which despite only being on a TV in the corner of a room, attracted quite an audience, fascinated by the family history, how they came to buy the Chateau etc. etc.
I wasn't especially looking but I think that a visit to the house would be difficult for wheelchair bound guests or those with restricted mobility - quite a few stairs. No problem with most of the gardens though. Beware also that we didn't see any public toilets inside the grounds, besides those at the ticket office/shop when you enter. 'Go' before you find yourself the other side of the gardens or at the back of the house. Make sure you aren't hungry either, there is nowhere inside to buy food. We did however, enjoy a 'crepe' lunch just outside the entrance - if I recall, there is also a restaurant where you can get a full meal, if required. A great day had by all, thousands of 'photo opportunities', views and many different subjects of interest. I'll go again sometime.

“Worth the trip.”
Reviewed February 6, 2013

Especially outside the castle has a rich and interesting architecture, interiors, relatively modern, illustrating the life of the family who lived there. The park is beautiful, the garden is filled with plants of all types, you can stroll between colors and eye-catching shapes and fragrances. Worth the trip.

“Garden galore!”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

I have been to this Chateau twice most recently in September 2012. It has the most amazing gardens. It is my favorite due to the gardens. Viewing the gardens and surrounding village from the upstairs windows is a must. The flowers and vegetable gardens and so well kept, lush and colorful. The Chateau has a wonderful family feeling and has been very well maintained. It is worth the time to walk through all the gardens and don't forget your camera! We ate lunch at the restaurant and had a wonderful meal.

“Superb”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

Loved all the gardens! Could stay leaving in there :) If you go with babies, do not forget bringing your port bebe, since a lot of stairs and the most nice view from the gardens are from the top.
