“Nice touch of France”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

The restaurant was filled when we arrived, but there was seating in the adjacent courtyard. There was a nip in the air the electric heaters helped mitigate, but the breeze was a tad biting. Blankets helped ward off the chill.
There was nothing else negative. The food was wonderful, the dessert scrumptious, the staff courteous and efficient.
Despite Ian S's comment, the restaurant does take MasterCard.

“Great French food in a lively restaurant.”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

We booked a table for dinner at lunchtime with no problems. Yet by time we finished our dinner the restaurant was full, so booking might be advisable.

We had a very nice meal, with impeccable service. Just one thing, they do not take credit cards! Make sure you have cash!

“Delicious food in a quiet setting”
Reviewed September 21, 2011

My wife and I had lunch at this charming little restaurant today, and after 10 days in Paris and 3 so far in the Loiree, this was our most delicious and enjoyable meal!

We sat at a little table outside in this pedestrian section of Ancienne Tours, quiet and lovely. I had the lunch menu for 23€: an unusual and delicate "gazpacho" of peas and chervil, with a savory whipped cream topping started me off wonderfully, followed by a little loin of pork and puree of sweet potatoes in the most wonderful sauce, tender and juicy and full of flavor. For dessert, a fantastic slice of bitter chocolate fondant with orange marmalade, beautifully presented.

My wife began with a very refined goat cheese flan, accompanied by perfect little green salad, followed by perfectly seared scallops presented with a very tasty and decorative bit of sauce, and a celery puree with caviar (total 22€). Too full for dessert, she had a Viennese coffee with chantilly cream, which she loved.

Our attentive waitress, who spoke perfect English, recommended a very nice bottle of rose which was a special not on the menu, also delicious. We floated away finally, completely satisfied.

“Great food, awful service”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

You know when you go into an expensive designer shop and you are made to feel uncomfortable to be there by the staff? Well that's what it was like eating at Attelier Gourmand. They seem to be experts in be rude, aloof and dismissive.

When we arrived, there was confusion about our reservation. It was rectified, albeit, begrudgingly. What followed could have been a masterclass in just getting us in and out as quickly as possible - mainly by ignoring us. Everytime we asked for something - like another bottle of wine - it was as if it was way too much trouble. Being quite a hip little place, the staff acted like they were too cool to do something as trivial as serving people. OK, they were very busy being a Saturday night. But nevertheless, is that really an excuse for arrogance and rudeness?

That said, the food was great. It was a shame that the experience was marred by the service. If you feel like eating out in the store from Pretty Woman, this is the place for you!

Good fresh food, attentive service, informal atmosphere, central location.
Price around 40 euros for a starter, main and half a bottle of wine
Felt really trendy and would definitely go again!
