“A good value hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2014

The hotel is far better than some of the reviews indicate, considering the price of the rooms.
Our room was spacious, easy to cool with air con, adequate storage space and quiet at night because it was at the back of the hotel. As other reviewers have said the replenishing of tea/coffee in rooms was unreliable, but that is a small issue and usually there are no tea/coffee making facilties in rooms in France.
Reception staff were very pleasant and recommended the Prebendary Gardens, a 5 minute walk away, which were lovely, as is Tours.
The breakfasts were excellent and the negative comments made by other reviewers have obviously been addressed as there was plenty to eat, a good selection and tables were quickly cleared. There were no problems even though the hotel was full.
We found no problems with the bar next door, as mentioned by some reviewers - their coffee was excellent.
The walk into the city centre is short but there are very regular and cheap buses and trams for those who prefer not to walk. The selections of restaurants and bars near to the hotel is very good.
Usually our holidays are independent, although on this occasion we were part of a Treyn holidays tour. We would not hesitate to book this hotel again if in the area.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet at night

Adequate for a few days. Continental breakfast good, range of foods and plentiful. Rooms clean, although rather small. We faced back onto other buildings with evening sun, this made our room very hot and difficult to cool down. However, some of our group had rooms at front onto the road and said they had to keep windows closed because of the traffic noise. Friendly staff, willing to assist where possible. Regarding the bar next door to the Hotel, called Beckets Bar, a word of warning, I had an ice cream (nothing fancy, just two small scoops) and my husband a small Espresso the printed bill came to E4.30, no probs with that, we paid the bill. But on checking our change it was 5 Euros short, querying this the barman said it was for sitting outside. We understand the 'outside eating tax' required in France, this being shown as a percentage of the bill. In this instance this money was taken without our prior knowledge and the barman was very abrupt and dismissive when we questioned the missing change. Far from being a percentage of the bill the amount 'taken' was more!!! Older people in our group shared similar experiences at this Bar, it is rather sad as the Hotel does not have its own bar and the location of Beckets would
have made it a great place for meeting and sharing the days experiences, needless to say anyone who did visit only did it once!!

Average for a 3* but not up to scratch with the tea making facilities. 2 milk not enough for two people who want two drinks each! Breakfast ok but no variation and get there early or the selection becomes even more limited. Tables not cleared quickly enough to provide sufficient crockery for all when the hotel is full.Clean and most staff pleasant. Good position for tram (fantastic new addition) and centre.

Room Tip: Some rooms at the front have a balcony.

Our room was clean with simple furnishings, not as large as the pictures lead you to believe. Location was within walking distance to town centre, about a 10 -15 minute walk. Many nice restaurants nearby (see our blog for reviews). The staff was friendly and professional. Overall a decent hotel but nothing special.

We went here as part of a 'Treyn' holiday package. I had misgivings after reading the reviews shortly before our departure -so I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found an excellent hotel and pleasant staff. The public areas are bright and well decorated-our room was fine, and even though it overlooked the road was very quiet-thanks to double glazing. Thank goodness we had air conditioning as it was very hot. Everywhere was very clean and -tea and coffee making facilities were provided-excellent shower/bath. Breakfast was plentiful-pleasant staff here as well. The only negative is that it is a little way from the centre of town-however a new tramline is being constructed as I write-to open in September-there will be a stop across from the hotel and this should be a real bonus as it will link the hotel with the main part of Tours. I would stay here again. It was a brilliant holiday.

What kind of hotel has a maintenance contract that takes 3 plus days to repair the lift? You got it right! To be fair the hotel probably merited a little more than average as the personnel were excellent and the hotel was comfortable enough

We were rather shocked checking in as the photos online show a much newer and cleaner place. The double plus single bed room we had was very small. Storage space was very limited. The walls were scuffed, carpet worn, wallpaper peeling. The Wifi also did not work. If we had known the state this hotel was in, we would have never booked it.
