We had a very good five night stay at the Ronsard. Our room on the third floor was very quiet. Glass doors on each floor sectioned the stairs from the rooms and seems to dampen the noise even between rooms. We rented a couple of bikes for four days and they let us keep the bikes in the court which was easy to access but secure. The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke english. There are only a couple things to point out. The opaque sliding glass bathroom door allowed for minimum privacy and hard to use at night without waking partner up. This hotel has no elevator but bags were brought up to our room so no problem then. We enjoyed the continental breakfast every morning for about 8.5 euros each. This hotel is within easy walking distance of the train station and many restaurants and cafe's. We accessed the Loire de Velo bike trail that runs along the Loire valley and cuts through Tours near this hotel.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: room 21 was nice and quiet.

Hotel Ronsard was a perfect jumping-off point for the Loire Valley, Chambord, and Chenonceau Chateux. Located in Tours, France, in the old section and only a couple of blocks from the pedestrian only (soon to be tramway area) streets full of shops and restaurants, it was a quiet place to stay after a long day of sightseeing.

We were in a 4th floor room on the inner courtyard in a superior room. The extra space was worth the 8 additional euro per night cost. One thing the room did not have was a refrigerator; however, it was so cold there in March that we just put our cold items outside on the window ledge to stay chilled. The room was modern in appearance and seemed to have been recently updated. We were pleased with its size and condition.

We ate breakfast at the hotel one morning. It consisted of yogurt, pastries, fruit. Good but a bit slim for the 8 euro each price. The staff was friendly yet unobtrusive. We would definitely recommend Hotel Ronsard if you are staying in Tours.

Booking was easy and handled with emails prior to our arrival. It is a good value for the money and location.

I am writing simply with a word of warning: confirm your stay before arrival. I had a confirmed reservation, guaranteed with credit card, and a printed copy of the email reservation. When I arrived at the hotel (after almost 24 hours of travel from the US) the owner informed me that the hotel employee who had taken the reservation had failed to note it in the book and they were full. To their credit they did obtain another room by calling around a bit and they did drive us there, but frankly I can only describe their reaction as one of half-hearted regret. I would not attempt to stay here based upon the rather cold reception I got when in a state of complete exhaustion.

Good choice location for the old town and wide range of shops and bars. Clean and friendly informative staff and bright and fresh breakfast room. The lack of a lift could be a problem and for the price we would normally expect tea / coffee making facilities, complimentary water, perhaps a mini bar and certainly a small room safe for valuables which were all absent. For these reasons and at a price of just under 100 e with breakfast for 2 I'm going to be perhaps a little unkind and describe the hotel as only average .... The competition has all the toys in the room at that price.

This hotel is extremely easy to find from the main train station - only a 5 min walk. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the town is small and quaint and it is a perfect base if you are interested in exploring the nearbby chateau of the Loire Valley - there is a tourism office near the train station that has loads of info and can arrange day trips for you.
We found lots of amazing restaurants only a street away and pretty good shopping too.
They are modernising the town and the main shopping strip was under construction as they build a tram line to travel through the town - I'm sure it will look wonderful when it is finished!
The room sizes were good, bed was comfym bathroom a little small but not unusual for Europe - everything was clean pretty!
Breakfast was part of our package each morning and the spread of breads, cheese, little condiments, fruit was great - such a wide variety!
The only critique we have is about the floorboards - it's an older house converted to a hotel and the floor boards were very loud and squeaky - not only our own but we could hear when the people in the room above us would hop out of bed or walk around etc.
Regardless, we enjoyed our time here and would definately come back :)

Room Tip: We were placed in a room that faced the street and we didn't have a problem with noise or anythi...

We stayed in Tours for our last night in the Loire Valley. The hotel was very convenient for dropping off our bags, returning the car and seeing the sights. We had a first floor room which meant we could not open the window at night which meant the room got too stuffy at night. Decent breakfast, good value and service was basic. I can see how location/value overrides other features - both of which we were looking for.

We have stayed in the hotel just for one night on our way back home. The location of the hotel is great, the rooms are clean.
The only problem we've got was with the hotel staff during check-out. We have taken our luggage out of the room in the morning and have told that we will be back by 12 o'clock to check-out. By the time we've come back, our room was opened and I received message by e-mail that the hotel acknowledged the police that we have left without paying the bill. The hotel manager didn't answer my questions and didn't explain anything.
