We only stayed for three days, but Tracy, a former French teacher from Detroit, was a treasure trove of information--not just about Tours, but about many other places in France. After making sure we got the best (restaurants, hotspots) out of Tours, she provided an excellent overview of Bordeaux sites since we were headed there next. If you're lucky, Tracy'll welcome you to Hotel Criden.
The Hotel itself is clean, but not air conditioned. There is a fan provided for the bedroom, and the breakfast is pretty good. The location is a 10 minute walk from the downtown, and there is a bus stop maybe ten steps from the hotel. We paid 5 E a night for outdoor parking of our rental car.
Be sure to check out the cathedral and Rue Colbert in Tours, and if you're into plants, do not neglect the very excellent and varied Jardin Botanique, a free attraction with wonderful plantings.More
