“A Magnificent Evening”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

I could not give higher praise for such a wonderful meal. Start to finish we felt warmly welcomed and spoiled by the outstanding staff, who never failed to bring personal touches, even greeting us by name as we approached the restaurant.

We had been wine-touring through Provence, Rhone & Burgogne for the week, and wished to try the local Loire fare. The suggestions to accompany our meal were expertly chosen and simply delicious.

The Chef's (Alain Couturier) cooking was perfectly executed and was the best of traditional french cuisine. The Coeur d'Aloyau and the Meuniere fish special were simply spectacular, and the cheese cart was so decadent.

But above all, we would like to praise the staff for their superior service. The attentiveness, consideration and the warmth displayed by all of them, made for a truly memorable meal. They went out of their way to please, and while we shut down the restaurant that night, and were the last two in the building, we were still being served by 3 people who made no effort to rush us. Even Chef Couturier checked-in to see if we had enjoyed the meal.

Our only regret: While we passed along our compliments to the chef, we feel that we should have expressed further to the Host and Wait-staff, that it was their efforts that truly made our evening.
In the hopes that they may see this: Merci, a vous tous, pour la service splendide! Vous nous avez complètement gâtés!

“Overrated”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013 via mobile

I booked this restaurant through reading such a wonderful reviews in TA, but we were genuinely disappointed with the place. We had the set Menu which was 56 euro per person. At the start, bread was good, butter was great, the sommelier went out of his way to get me a glass of wine which wasnit suppose to be sold by glass, only half bottle at the minimum but then things were slipping. For example, there was a small insect like a little baby cockroach (we knew exactly what one looks like), told the waiter and he just brushed it aside with his bare hand, then he used that very hand to grab our forks and knives and lay them out ready for our next course. When we told the owner(marilyn) she certainly made an effort to investigate with her waiter, but then she came back to us to say it was only just an ant! It is normal to have an ant as there was a rose on the table! We were amazed with her reaponse and felt we should have taken the photo for her to see what kind an ant it was!
The couses came out one worst than the other. We had lobster which was tough to chew, we had sea bream which was tasteless and frankly, very dull, fish was not fresh and the pesto oil was overwhemling. All in all, food and the place were overrated, and definitely it does not deserve a one starred rated by Michelin. We had better food in Tours center.

We have done our best for over 30 years to build a solid reputation as a top restaurant in Tours (Michelin star for 25 years) and although we do our utmost to maintain our reputation we can do nothing to appease a customer who became very upset by the appearance of a tiny insect on her tablecloth which presumably emerged from a fresh flower! An unfortunate event which obviously spoilt her whole evening and from that moment nothing could be done repair the damage. Strangely the lobster was tough and the fish was not fresh, although everything had arrived that very morning having just reopened after our summer closure.
We apologize for the inconvenience to our guest and will do our best in future to prevent such a creature from invading our premises.

“Great dinning experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

The food is fantastic and the staff perfect. We ordered a la carte, but the fixed menus look fantastic too! I would highly recommend. On a side note, we took our 7 year old with us and they also have a fantastic mini-sized gastro menu for children as well. Nice touch!

“Absolutely fantastic !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

We booked this restaurant on recommendation and to say the least we were not disappointed ! The setting was stunning , the welcome from Marilyn and her staff was very warm , the service outstanding . The food was totally amazing , beautifully prepared by Alain the chef and accompanied by exquisite wines from the region expertly chosen and then explained by the sommelier . We took two very important clients and they both agreed this was possibly the best eating experience they had ever had ! Marilyn and Alain deserve the highest praise possible for making our evening such a wonderful experience , if you are in Tours , you MUST go here !

“Really needs a 6th star”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2013

This was great! Food, service, everything was outstanding. No wonder this place has such a long list of superb reviews. A Michelin one star, but should probably have two.
