The main reason to stay in this functional hotel is that it is practically next door to the train station -- a great convenience if you arrived by train and if you plan to visit Loire Valley chateaus and other attractions by train.

Rooms are banal but perfectly comfortable and efficiently planned. Everything worked. The restaurant was better than we expected in a chain hotel and was especially welcome on a rainy night. The breakfast selection was good, and the hotel service was quite efficient. The Internet service worked well.

The immediate area isn't particularly appealing, but historic attractions are a pleasant walk away. The cathedral is beautiful, especially illuminated at night. On the rue Colbert, a lively street in an old neighborhood, we had a pleasant traditional meal in Le Turon (94 rue Colbert).

Incidentally, we found it quite feasible to visit some great chateaus by train. Chenonceau, one of the most popular chateaus, is about a half hour away and the chateau is only a short walk from the Chenonceau train station. The Blois chateau is also near the Blois station, also about a half hour away from Tours. Getting to Chambord from Blois requires a bus ride from the station, but of course it is well worth the hassle!

Booked room for two nights, based on location next to Tours rain station. Had scheduled castle tour for day 1 upon arriving in Tours, and location gave us ability to either check in early or at least leave our bags. Hotel is right next to station and 5 minute walk maximum. We were able to check in early and our room over looked the train station and tracks. The hotel is dated and feels like a 1980's hotel with very limited upgrades.

We were in a "Holiday Inn Preferred Room" and physical attributes were fine, but the room smelled. Went back to desk to request a different room and couldn't get one because the hotel was booked. However the desk clerk was able to give me a can of air freshener which helped. The all day castle tour was fabulous and when we got back to the room, it smelled again. So we opened the window and went to sleep. Also having a room on the side of the train station has a big down side. You can hear EVERY tone and announcement they make at the train station, and that's pretty regular.

Next morning we sprayed the room again and caught train to Saumur for a wine tasting day, and had a wonderful time. Of course when we got back the room smelled once again. We had planned on going to a nice dinner, and departing the next morning. But by this time I was sick of the room, and decided to do a quick check to see if we could catch a train out of Tours that same night. Found that we could make a late train, and even though I'd have to pay for the second night without staying in the hotel, if was worth it for me to leave, and we did.

All in all the location was great, but the value of the room wasn't there, and that's before the smelliness is taken into account. Loved the Bordeaux wine tour and castles, and if staying close to the train station is critical, try to find another hotel that's close, or try to limit your stay for a night.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT facing the train station. On the train station side you'll here EVERY announc...

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in May. We were with a tour group of 40 plus and had dinner there 1 night which was awful. Dessert was frozen, mushy fruit. The entree of chicken with a tomato sauce and a few veggies was pretty tasteless.
We were on the top floor and horrible jackhammer noises began the afternoon we got there which seemed to be coming from the roof. Later we saw a sign that explained they were renovating.
I noticed all the employees were rather disconnected. No one smiled from the front desk people, to the waiters, to the maids. This was totally different that the other hotels we stayed in during the trip.
The location is near the train station and our room overlooked it. It was not noisy from that.
I wouldn't recommend staying here to anyone.

This hotel no longer belong to the Holiday Inn, now owned by Alliance.
Surprisingly the prices increased as well the number of stars, 4 stars now, unaffordable for the low quality they offer. The rooms are still basic even those who are being refurbished, I mean, part of the furniture replaced. I continue to notice the lack of amenities, short only of soap and shower gel / shampoo, which moreover are not restored, today essential for travelers.
The breakfast deteriorated in quality and variety.
The trends continue, I'll have to find another alternative hotel, I'm not willing to pay for a four star hotel with low-cost service.
The location is good but has more hotels near, maybe cheaper. Avoid the rooms to the railway station.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms to the railway station

Hotel smack in center of Tours which leads to the issue of unloading luggage and checking in when there's apparently no parking zone for doing this. Turned out that there was a space (poorly signed) to the back of the hotel that required an entry code that could be obtained from the front desk of the hotel -- which you can't get into because there's no place to park to get to the front desk! Finally blocked a tour bus that was unloading and ignored the wrath of the bus driver until I got the entry code to the carpark! Room we got was large, nicely appointed, good wifi, really nice bathroom, no noise fron the Tours train station that was outside our window (on 6th ? floor). Good lighting but when we moved the easy chair over to the desk area, it was apparent that the area under the easy chair had not seen a vacuum cleaner for a LONG time. Nevertheless, we we OK with this hotel and would stay there again if in Tours.

This hotel is located at the side of the railway station, so I suggest you to avoid a room facing it due to the noise, mainly early morning.
Rooms somehow tired although clean, but now with free wireless internet access.
Breakfast OK but somehow artificial, fruits and juices.
