We had dinner there with our 3 kids and the food was exquisite, very nicely presented and delicious. The staff was very attentive and the service was truly excellent. We were seated upstairs on a busy night, but had the room to ourselves. Would love to come back. Delicious food and kid -friendly place. Great value for money too!

Staying in Tours at the ART Hotel (Rochecorbon). Le Marche Gourmand was recommended by one of the hotel staff as our preferred restaurant was not open on Sunday.

We were warmly welcomed and my poor (well almost non-existent really) French was no problem as several of the staff spoke excellent English and seemed only too pleased to assist.

The food was very good and the service was excellent despite the restaurant being extremely busy (obviously popular).

We would not hesitate to return on our next visit to Tours.

We stopped for dinner at this nice little restaurant in the old section of Tours. We decided on this restaurant based on the Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The restaurant does not open until 7:30pm, we arrived at opening and by 8, there were no tables left downstairs. Not sure what the upstairs looked like, but we found the general ambiance quite nice and comfortable. We chose a table inside. Both of us had the entrecote with frites, perfectly prepared with a choice of sauces (I had the poivre vert, my husband the roquefort). Service good and friendly although they were quite busy.

Excellent for anyone slightly intimidated by French restaurants, we settled upon this restaurant after wandering around Place Plumereau trying to find something not overly touristy but still accessible. Choose a table outside if the weather is warm enough, people watch and soak in the buzz of Tours' old town. The food was rich and delicious. The duck was slightly disappointing but the pave was perfectly cooked with crispy, dark chips, soft in the middle. Go for the set menu (3 courses for E23) for excellent value and a meal so filling you'll have to waddle back to your hotel. The most commendable thing was the fantastic service - the best we have ever experienced in France. Prompt, gracious and helpful but not patronising. Thank you Le Marche Gourmand!

I was in Tours for 10 days and went to this restaurant twice. The staff was very pleasant and I even had brief conversations with the chef and the owner. The first time, I had the scallops which were perfectly done: cooked just right and with a tiny bit of caviar on top to add a little saltiness. The second time I tired the duck confit which was excellent, great savory flavor and just the right crispiness. The desserts were also really good. The profiteroles were very tasty and a perfect end to the meal. I also enjoyed the chocolate mousse, which was topped with just a little meringue for a nice added flavor and texture.
