“Good value and quirky”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

We stayed in a room that had a marble fireplace. The staircase and furnishings are suggest elegance from long ago. My 22 year old daughter and I found it very charming. The staff were very helpful and spoke English. They supplied us with anything we asked for: silverware, access to their kitchen refrigerator, glass wineglasses, bottle opener, etc. the beds were a bit hard but everything was clean. I was able to easily park (no required french parellel parking in a tight spot!) for free across the street. Our room was right at street level so that was a bit weird, privacy wise. Next time, we will ask for a higher floor. No a.c. but didn't need it even though this was an unusually warm July. Room was big enough for the 2 of us. Easy to find.

Room Tip: Don't stay at street level at front.

Perfectly positioned hotel in Tours. Underground car park close was secure and well lit and I had no concerns about the safety of my car overnight.
Although the hotel corridors were a little tired the bedroom we had was large and decorated to a high standard as was the bathroom.
The toilet was however ridiculously small, and virtually impossible to use without the door open, I can't believe other rooms would have had a toilet of the same size.
Recommended.

This art deco hotel is not for everyone but we loved it. We were up-graded to a superior room and the bathroom was modern and well appointed, although we did have to take the liquid soap from its holder over the bath so as to be able to use it at the wash basin.
The staff were very helpful. The breakfast room looked fantastic but we didn't use it because of the 12 euro each price tag. There are lots of options nearby.
Being opposite the bus station and by the train stain ay put some people off, but we thought it was great.

Room Tip: Try for a complimentary upgrade

You get what you pay for...I got one of the "non-renovated" rooms, so my room did not look like the website. My room faced train station, so if you keep the window closed, no noise. The room was big, but not that nice. The hotel was close to many things and I walked everywhere. Train station across the street and so is the Tourism office where most tour pick up is literally across the street. I did 2 day tours to Loire Valley and see all the Chateau's. Watch where you are stepping as i guess people do not pick up their dog mess.

I am solo female traveller and yes, it did feel bit sketchy at night because there is no one on streets after midnight. There is many homeless people asking for money or cigs, but seems to be harmless. As I travel more south of France, English speaking people getting more sparse, however, if you try to get a couple of key words in France, they will try to communicate. Overall , this property was good for the purpose of sleeping.

located near a train station which means it attracts undesirables. The rooms were average. The breakfast leaves much to be desired. The lady in charge of the restaurant was not nice at all. You felt like you were in school and she was the principal. Good thing is that it is close to a small grocery store. The baggage was not handled properly here. It was left sitting in the hallway for a couple of hours.
