“Modern room with plenty of space.”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting a couple of local attractions. Recently refurbished, the Mercure was modern and clean with lots of space for a sofa, table, king sized bed and dressing table. The bathroom was separated from the bedroom by a door which led to 2 other doors containing a WC and shower & sink. The shower was fantastic. It was half the size of the bathroom with a massive shower head with loads of hot water. Excellent.

We ate dinner in the hotel both nights as we didn't want to head back into Tours centre. The staff were pleasant and courteous and were very polite in the face of our atrocious French. The menu wasn't huge but everything we ordered was delicious, especially the desserts! We were not rushed to clear our table, but the only downside was that the service was quite slow. This was possibly due to the fact there were a number of conferences during our stay.

We would definitely stay here if we plan to travel through this area again.

Just re-opened after a full refurb in Jan 2012, we loved this hotel for our stop going south. Bedrooms work really well with excellent modern furnishings and walk in shower is a great alternative to a bath.

Large secure car park and great reception manager, a lady, who has been at the hotel since it opened 20 years ago. Thank you for your courtesy and for finding my jacket in the restaurant following my leaving it behind. Well done all.

Great value too.

Room Tip: Great Bio breakfasts.

We were very favourably impressed with this chain hotel. We stayed for just one night as a stop over en route to the UK from the Dordogne, as such it was well located and it would also be excellent for those making use of the airport which is close by. Check in was quick and welcoming and the receptionist had good English. The room was really well designed in a contemporary style with seperate loo and bathroom, a small lobby allowed suitcases to be stored out of sight during the stay. Both toilet and bathroom and the bedroom were spotless with clean, matching and modern decor. All fixtures and fittings were of a high quality. the room was very quiet.

Breakfast followed the usual buffet style of most hotels and was of a very good standard.

All in all a very good place to stay, though it is not cheap for a chain hotel.

We also ate at Les Vignes the hotel restaurant, For a chain hotel the food was well presented and enjoyable and reasonably priced though the wines were quite expensive. A decent restaurant is necessary as the hotel is some way from the town centre

Room Tip: Room 531 was excellent, at the end of the corridor and right next to the fire exit

The location of the hotel was very close to the airport and business parks and about 15 minute drive to the city. When we checked in, we were asked if we would like to dine in the restaurant but declined, as it did not offer the dining experience we desired. The room appeared to been modernised recently, and the bathroom was very nice. The bed also appeared to be new and comfortable. The safe did not work, and we were advised that “none of the safes worked on the third floor”. However, we were not advised of this when we checked in which meant before we went out for dinner we had to leave our valuables with reception. This entailed laborious paperwork when we were tired travellers just wanting to go out or dinner.

There were coffee and tea making facilities in the room, however, the milk was a concentrate that was not pleasant. They did not provide normal tea, fortunately I bring my own. Due to the hotel location, going to a local café was not an option.

Early in the morning the cleaners were vacuuming the hallway that woke me up, it would be thoughtful to the guests to leave this until after 10am, at least.

I felt the hotel was best suited to business travellers or those who had an early plane flight, not for holidaymakers to the Loire Valley area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the car park.

I choosen this hotel because of the reviews in the Tripavisor. Although it's comfortable, clean and decent, I didn't have the expected stay.
I was travelling alone, in a young trip, without a car. And the hotel doesn't offer many advantages for my traveller's profile. First of all, it's situated far from downtown. The only way to reach the center is going there by taxi (expensive transport).
Moreover, the staff, although very helpfull and gentle, couldn't inform how to get to the châteaux independently of an excursion agency - what is very easy, using the train.
Furthermore, the restaurant is excellent, but the room service is open only until 10 p.m; after that there are no more options for meals.
So, the hotel seemed to fit for family and businness, but not for walker travellers.
