“Must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2014

A truly impressive monument inside and out! The exterior has just been beautifully cleaned up, meaning that you can appreciate the 17th century cathedral in its original glory! The stained-glass windows are spectacular and you can follow the history of Joan of Arc walking round the church, description of each scene in old French running under each window (look out for references to the evil "Anglois"!).

“Cathedrale Ste-Croix”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

Cathedrale Ste.-Croix is amazing. It has its own unique architectural style, and it is simply breathtaking to behold. There are a couple of other facts to note about visiting the cathedral...

1. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station.
2. The cathedral is situated in a way to be very accessible for photography. There are many good angles for pictures from the outside that are not obstructed by other buildings, vehicles, etc.
3. The cathedral is a block from the main pedestrian street in old Orleans. This street is not immediately apparent from the cathedral, but it is well-worth finding.
4. The cathederal is easily accessible by the tram system.

4. Right now, the cathedral is not under a renovation, meaning that it is also unconstructed by scaffolding.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 6, 2013

The outside of the building is spectacular and will be even better when the cleaning has been finished. First impressions on entering this cathedral - disappointing, a bit drab and not well cared for. But it is actually spectacular. Some of the best stained glass windows I have seen. Free entry, not many people looking round, a low key "tourist site", definitely worth a visit.

“Definitely worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 3, 2013

If you are in the area then this Cathedral is definitely worth a visit. It is quite spectacular inside and is a good example of Gothic architecture with quite a a few local art students doing their sketches for college. Free to enter and discreet photographs allowed.

We came across the car park underneath the cathedral by chance, but this turned out to be a good location to park, although a little tight. It was a little tricky to find the paying machine so I would suggest using a credit card at the exit barrier.

The area outside the Cathedral is very pleasant with the streets laid in stone and it is not far to walk to the old town.
