“Helpful fun host and overall good place to stay.”
Reviewed July 11, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

The property is quirky but comfortable with everything you need from self catering accommodation. The owner Jean-David is a helpful host and very informative about what to do and see and where to go for good local food There is a play room for the kids and Jean-David loves his pool. When you ask him for help the standard response is "anyting is possible!" and pretty much is. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and he and his family made us feel welcome from the outset. We would recommend a stay here especially if you like historic properties.

Liked best: The quiet attractive location and the friendly hospitality.
Liked least: No real negatives for us but difficult for people that can't do stairs as the bedroom is up a tight spiral staircase.

“great retreat”
Reviewed June 20, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

we were here during some of france's worst rainstorms of the century. the owner, jean david, made us feel welcome and helped us with everything we needed. he is a wonderful host. even with the rain, this was a great base from which to explore nearby loire valley villages, castles and museums. late in the week, we were able to play tennis at a very nearby court. the market in loche is wednesdays and saturdays. go saturday if you can...more vendors. this property is in bridore, about 10 miles from loche.

The house was great, clean spacious and furnished in an authentic but modern way. The owner knows a lot about the area and you only have to ask...

We visited castles, abbeys, played golf, went to markets and had a swim in the pool not to mention the games room that our 9 year old absolutely loved.

We had a great time and with no doubts I would recommend it if you like a rural house but don't want to be bored.

“Wonderful, relaxed place with superb pool and friendly propietor”

My sons (15 and 13) and I had a wonderful time here. The pool is super and very welcome as it was really hot. The house was cool though. Enough extras like microwave, oven, toaster, TV en DVD-player including plenty of films. Also a lovely games room available with all sort of games like table football, table tennis, bicycles.
Lots to do and see in the area like chateaus and canoing on the Loire for example.
The propietor is very friendly and helpful. In short: a super holiday: thanks a lot Jean-David!

“The perfect French countryside holiday”

We just spent two weeks at this lovely cottage in the countryside of the Loire Valley. It's perfectly located if you just want to relax by the pool with the most amazing view of the Chateau de Bridore or if you want to explore the region and go to neighbouring chateaux, lakes, medieval towns, little towns…casinos, fishing, family park, golf and even have a meal at a great Michelin Star restaurant 20 mins away from the cottage. There is so much to do for the grown ups and the children…we just had an amazing time. Jean-David, the host, is very helpful and has tons of info about the area, you can ask him anything you need. There are lots of special events going on during the summer at the different chateaux and towns, light shows, fireworks, etc flea markets, night markets..

The little cottage was perfectly equipped for our small family, everything has been decorated recently combining the old features of the farm house and a modern maisonette, lots of storage space, comfy beds, etc and a very handy back room with more storage space and a washing machine. You have many supermarkets nearby, do check the opening times though! and the lovely market town of Loches is about 10 mins away. We did all our shopping for fruit, veg, meat and cheese there also run different errands and tried some good restaurants.

The private swimming pool was great, felt very safe for the children as it has a non-slip edge. It has a nice grass area, swimming toys and the best part (for me) is that every time it was only us there.

We had lots of bbqs with wonderful local produce (everything tastes SO good in France!) overlooking the beautiful fields and the castle, beautiful sunsets too! the children played freely and you don't have to worry about chasing them around as the area is so big and safe for them. They played ball, table tennis, badminton etc

Overall, the perfect tranquil country retreat but with lots of things to do to choose from if you needed constant entertainment. Great for families with young children, mine are 4 and 6, and great for older children too. Great for older guests too.

We were sad we had to leave!

A million thanks to Jean David and Cecile ( Valentin and Ines too!) for their hospitality and friendliness, we really had a great holiday that none of us will never forget!

I would definitely recommend to friends and family and look forward to coming back one day soon.
