Although in general I don’t review restaurants I’ll make an exception for Sieur Sausin as a small token of appreciation for the fine evening its staff presented us with. The restaurant stands out for various reasons :
Firstly, I appreciate their authenticity. Staff in period clothing serve authentic medieval dishes in a rustic building that apparently already housed a restaurant in the sixteenth century. Clearly the owners have paid attention to detail (wine chalices, furniture) to create the right atmosphere and avoid a cheap commercial feel.
Secondly, the setting is very charming. From the restaurant terrace you enjoy a beautiful view of the royal palace of Loches and the church of Saint Ours. Absence of traffic and neighbors guarantee peace and quiet.
Thirdly, we got a warm and sincere welcome from the staff. The waitress was very helpful, explaining the dishes to us in english and posing for pictures.
Fourthly, both dishes and wine tasted truly delicious.
In conclusion :
I warmly recommend Sieur Sausin to anyone who would like to crown his visit of the royal city of Loches with an authentic dish in a medieval atmosphere.
