“Go here for simple but good food, excellent value”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2014

In our week at Loches, twice we took the short stroll down from our gite to eat at the Cak't. Simple, wonderful French cooking. One prefix menu per night, very inexpensive with just a few tables (if possible, make an advance reservation to be safe), and wonderful down-home French cooking. Small, but very good Loire Valley wine list. It looks like a one-man operation, don't know how he does it! The tables outside are the best seating, comfortable chairs and nice setting in the village lane.

“Avoid unless desperate”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2014

Went to this restaurant for lunch on previous recommendations in Tripadvisor. We were not consulted about preferences. Entree and main were simply put on the table. Both had been pre-prepared and heated in a bain-marie. We were asked if we wanted red or white wine. Poor quality vin ordinaire as it turned out. Asked for our choice of cakes for desert. Chose one which turned out to be dry and stale.
Note now that the rave reviews for this place were all made in 2013. They seem to refer to a different planet to the one we experienced at Cak't on April 23, 2014. To be avoided.

“Wonderful Little Restaurant in Loches, France!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 15, 2013

This was one of the best places we enjoyed a meal at during our three-week trip to France during October. We were advised to eat here by some other guests at our bed-and-breakfast as they said the food and the price were awesome! We enjoyed the set menu which included soup, entree, dessert, etc. Had we known this place existed, we may have eaten here all four nights of our stay in Loches! This little place is run by a very sweet gentleman who doesn't speak much English, does the cooking, baking himself, and presents it so beautifully. You will not be disappointed if you dine here - it is a jewel! Don't miss it!

“First French dinner did not dissapoint”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2013

Wandered into this place on a rainy night (our first night in France) during my honeymoon, because all other places were closed. Could not have been happier. Owner was very friendly despite our lack of understanding of French and didn't mind that I was taking photos of everything. We had a delightful soup (squash?), and our main course was beef stew with salad, a slice of brie and a mustard/tomato quiche. Dessert was choice of apple tart or lemon meringue. I loved everything I tried (including both desserts!) and the whole meal cost us only 12 euros each! Best food discovery of my life.

“A great meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

We went here on our first night in Loche because everything else was closed, but it was a wonderful meal. We had the set menu, 12 euros, amazing value. Legume soup, a platter with cheese and tomato tart, cheese salad and cassoulet, and the apple tart. one of the best meals I had in France.
