We had such a perfect evening here. A lovely table for two by an open window. Delicious food. Imaginative and beautifully prepared and presented without being fussy or whacky. First rate service and interesting wine list. A great find in this delightful small town.

Recommended both on Trip Advisor and by the owner of the gite we were staying in, Au Coin des Halles felt like the natural choice for a special meal to close our three week trip to France. Fortunately it lives up to expectations.

Service is faultless and professional but not needlessly fussy or over formal. We were given a very pleasant table at the edge of the garden that offered a nice shady spot for our dog to lie down. Dogs are much more welcome in France than back in the UK, and even in this very nice establishment that we had dressed up to visit, our canine companion was made welcome.

The food is elegant and beautifully presented but it's not just style over substance. Flavours are well balanced, ingredients were the freshest and best quality and the menu is interesting. There is a set menu but it's possible to substitute dishes from the al a carte selection if you can't find something to suit you. We enjoyed a dashi broth with shellfish, served cold, which was really exceptional, a superb melon starter...a very clear illustration of how something simple can be heavenly if the ingredients are perfect, a wonderful rabbit dish that was quite easily the best rabbit that we have ever eaten, and a wonderful celebration of apples for dessert.

The wine list is pretty comprehensive and local wines offer quality and value. The staff are more than happy to explain any dish or wine and nothing is too much trouble. Langeais is right in the heart of the tourist heartland of the Loire Valley but this is far from being a tourist trap. Very high quality food and cooking and lots of local diners enjoying it. A wonderful experience.

As a vegetarian I am often given inferior dishes with little thought or attention. My friend is a meat eater but very hard to please. We were both bowled over by our meals here. The food was cooked perfectly but also were delightfully presented and the flavours, textures and colours were marvelous. Service was very friendly and efficient. It is Michelin recommended but has informal service otherwise would probably have a star. The price was reasonable for such excellent food. For a three course meal with aperitif, good wine and good desert wine we paid about 60 euros a head.

On a wonderful summer evening we had an extremely well prepared meal at a resonable price. The place was full but the service was still attentive and swift. To be recommended.
But why was I served italian sparkling water in the heart of France, I didnt bother asking the busy waiters. The rest of the tables had french water. Perhaps they thought tourists would fancy italian water?
