“You may be in for a terrific surprise in some rooms of this small hotel, like no bathroom door”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

The stay for 2 nights here proved to be a unusual experience, and not one I would want to repeat. It started with the door handle to the room which spun freely around but would only open when in one certain position and would only lock when in a different position. We twice had to get managment to lock and unlock our door. My wife and I were traveling with our 26 year old son. The bath room had no door and only a share lace curtain which provided no privacy and to make matters worst the beds were position with thrir heads next to the bathroom opening, you could hear every drop of water in every bath fixture. Also, the toilet faced the large full length window which had no curtain but only lightly frosted glass panes and opened onto the sidewalk so that people walking by the hotel on the street were only about 2 feet away from anyone sitting on the toilet. There was free parking available, but limited number of spaces. Breakfast was average and there was a rather expensive diningroom available. Whereas the location was only about one-half a mile from Chateau Chenonceaux because of the price, approx. $230 per night including breakfast, and the quirky rooms I would sugest you look elsewhere.

Cost was high for our room. Door to bathroom did not shut. Hand shower in bath only - no proper shower installed. Wardrobe contained only shelves so clothes on hangers could not be hung up. Very disappointed. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our holiday in France (we stayed in 8 hotels while travelling around) and the worst as far as facilities was concerned. Would not stay there again.

Room Tip: Try and get a room where you can hang up your clothes, where the bathroom door shuts and where there...

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in April 2012, and stayed in one of their larger terrace rooms (I think cost €130 per night). Overall, we had a lovely time.

Pros:

Room was very clean and spacious
Bed was comfortable, even though pillows were quite uncomfortable
Didn't feel at all rundown or dusty/overly old-fashioned - nice mix of comfort and modern furnishings
Great bathroom - decent shower with good shower pressure, two sinks and a bathtub
Friendly staff
A nice, short walk to the chateau
Very pretty town, albeit very small

Cons:

We felt the price was a little much, especially since there was no breakfast included in the rate or anything!
The garden was really drab... we thought it would be much prettier.

The restaurant attached to the hotel was excellent. It was quite expensive, but the food and wine were so delicious that we were very happy paying the bill at the end.

We would happily stay here again, despite the high-ish cost for what you get, as the hotel was clean and friendly, and the restaurant was excellent.

Have stayed here several times before and have always thought it a loveley place. The rooms are still the same standard, very French, very comfortable.
Unfortunately I can't say the same of the restaurant. Despite booking a table in JANUARY when I booked a room we were placed in the overspill, rather than the main, dining room. The food was very average where it has always been exceptional before.
On asking if we could have a drink in the bar after our meal the waitress said 'no it's closed'.
This at 9.30 pm. When we complained next morning we were told neither of these things should have happened.

Room Tip: Every room is different but havn't had a bad one.

From the time I entered the lobby to check in, my stay could not have been any better. The hostess could not do enough to ensure a perfect stay and gave great advice about what to see and what to skip in the area. The rooms are beautiful and the dinner is amazing. Everyone who works there goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I would like to go back there for an extended visit.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights May 18-19, 2012. The staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. The rooms was light and very charming. The entire area has a quiet country atmosphere and we found it very relaxing. The restaurant is not to be missed. The quality of the food is top notch. You can easily walk to the Chenonceaux castle from the hotel. Despite the castle being mobbed, the hotel was relaxed, quiet and very comfortable. We had convenient, free parking and we found this a great base for exploring the Loire Valley. There are some great places to go in the Valley besides just the Chateaus.

The host and her dog (Achilees) are the most friendly friends we made in our very short visit. Most importantly for whatever reasons, our check-in was super smooth and the rooms were delightful especially for our kids. We were in a father's day vacation with our kids..so it helped big time. We were only disappointed a bit with the breakfast...nothing much to talk about..but the service of the people were very warm and welcoming. Will come back another time for sure.

Oh..our room had a piano...but unfortunately lot of the keys needed tuning and the Wi Fi in our room was non-existent even though we could find it at the reception.
