Stayed here for three nights, dining each night in the restaurant. This is a charming old building and we were in the suite on the second floor, overlooking the terrace. There were a few problems with housekeeping eg: no toiletries, soap etc. when we arrived, and damp towels. There was no shower curtain over the bath. There was good and efficient air conditioning which was very welcome. Note that there is a railway line immediately behind the hotel grounds and trains run day and night.
Restaurant: : on our first evening there was a mix-up with our order and we waited twenty minutes for this to be corrected, resulting in one meal being eaten before the other arrived! Subsequent meals were much more enjoyable and of good quality. Overall however the hotel seems understaffed and it was almost impossible to get an aperitif before dinner. The waiting staff worked hard to serve in the very busy restaurant. Sabine was charming and helpful and spoke excellent English which was much appreciated. Good position within walking distance of the chateau.
With just a little more attention to detail, this could be a very good hotel.

August 2011
We arrived and were greeted by the owner who has an exceptional personality and fabulious command of european languages the staff were brilliant and very helpful considering our lack of the command of the french language in ordering meals. The menu was to our tastes and excellent value for money and compared with Paris is brilliant. Rooms on the first floor terrace very clean and comfortable. Most of the reviews are a fair comment on the Hotel but some of the comments from our visitors from accross the pond are a little unfair.

The area is wonderful and the history is outstanding.

After reading the great reviews we were really looking forward to our stay - but were really disappointed. We were staying in the apartment which sleeps 5. We climbed a tired wooden stair case to the front door, which had rotting posts keeping it together and the outside flooring had leads taped town. Inside the furniture was mis matched and tired. We stayed for 4 nights - one day our beds were not made at all, on another occasion the maids came at 4pm. Our room was floral to the extreme with floral padded wall paper, different floral curtains and another flowered pattern on the bed covers. The wifi only worked if we opened the windows and perched on the balcony/window box! It all felt worn and run down. The staff were happy enough, but breakfast and dinner were too expensive for us to try out. There were no facilities to make coffee/tea and to have a coffee on the patio/lounge cost 3 Euros, so we didn't bother. The pool was ok - not very big, and a bit cloudy....Parking was difficult if we went out for the evening, we really struggled to find a spot when we drove back. The château was amazing - but we should have stayed in Amboise.

We stayed for 3 nights. We had a room in the back of the building on the ground floor. Everything was spotlessly clean and the room was comfortable and incredibly quiet (with no street noise even though the window overlooked the street). The beddings and curtains looked fairly new (although plain almost to the point of being austere).
It wasn’t possible to open the windows or curtains, so felt a little too enclosed (curtains were between double pane windows). If we went back, we would request a room on the upper floor overlooking the beautiful garden.
The ownership of the hotel changed in March. The new owners speak English and are fairly helpful with travel advice.
We had breakfast each morning (not included in the room rate). The dining room is attractive and the breakfast was completely ample with fresh breads, yogurt, meat, cheese, juice, etc.
We ate dinner in the restaurant twice and ordered the prix fixe meals; the service was good and the food was delicious.
The Chenonceau chateau is a short walk away and was one of the highlights of the trip to France with fabulous art, gorgeous furnishings, incredible flower arrangements, excellent iPod audio guide, etc. We took a break from sightseeing at the chateau to eat lunch at Relais Chenonceaux (the profiteroles were incredible).
Chenonceaux makes an excellent base for sightseeing in this part of the Loire valley. Cheverny and Chambord are a short drive away (both are great but Chambord is particularly amazing). We took the train to St Pierre des Corps from Paris and picked up a rental car at the St Pierre train station.

Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking gardens/patio

This hotel was sold recently. The new owners did not have all the information given to them by the old owners about our reservation. The room we had been promised was not available. The new owners upgraded us to a much nicer room/suite as soon as the situation was explained. They were very helpful and friendly. The room was lovely, as was the entire property.
The bathroom was very large and well equipped. We ate breakfast at the hotel, which was in the restaurant. It was very pretty and the food was good. We did not eat dinner at the hotel. It was over our budget. There were only 2 small problems: Wifi did not work in our room some of the time. It would go on and off. We had to go down to the lounge to access the internet, where it was working most of the time. The other problem was that the bar was not open or attended to in the evening. There was a beautiful bar and small lounge. All the staff were very busy serving dinner and did not ask if we wanted anything. After about half an hour we asked for some service and waited about 20 minutes before leaving. Other than that, we had a very nice stay and would recommend this hotel and the new owners.

Our family of 4 stayed here for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. Our first two nights were in an amazing family suite that had a huge living room, two bedrooms (one with a Queen bed and the other with 3 single beds), a gorgeous full bath and then a half bath. It was quaint and very comfortable. We had to move to two other rooms for our last night because the suite had already been booked and those rooms were nice as well (although we preferred the huge room). Breakfast was included and was very good with delicious croissants, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, meat and other food. We had dinner in the restaurant and would highly recommend it. We used Chenonceaux as a base while we toured to near-by towns with our rental car. It was a wonderful 3 days for our family and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Definitely book early and try to get the family suite

We stayed here on our way down to the South of France, and just wish we could have stayed longer! Sabine and the team were charming, attentive and couldn't do more to help. We were staying with our daughter in a family room, and as they had a larger room available with a separate little room attached, they had been thoughtful enough to move us in to there. From the warm welcome and pretty decor and gardens, through to the exquisite food we had that evening, through to their kindness in letting me practice my slightly forgotten French, it was a wonderful experience, and we were sorry to leave the next day. We aim to return for a longer break so we can also experience the stunning beauty of the nearby chateau -unfortunately deadlines for arrival at our next stop meant we had to depart early. Merci Sabine and co. Evie sends a kiss to your gorgeous dog (sorry forgotten name!) Kate, Richard & Evie x
