“Stunning castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2013

We spent a whole day in the castle and gardens and enjoyed every moment. The rooms were so well displayed (including fresh flower arrangements in each room, which were an art in themselves). The history was told in a way that made it come alive. The gardens were beautifully laid out and maintained and were a feast to the eyes. Truly beautiful experience.

“If you only see one chateau, this has to be IT.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

We visited a total of five chateaux while in the Loire valley. And while Amboise and Chambord deserve credit, the experience at Chenonceau was by far the most exceptional. The rooms are incredible (not only the many bedrooms and studies, but also the kitchens, chapel, and galleries), and most furniture isn't roped off like in other castles. They had fires going in the fireplaces, and amazingly beautiful floral displays in each room. The gardens are spectacular, and the audio guide was superb. Free parking and delicious food and wine in the cafe, plus friendly personnel made this chateau de best one we visited. Hands down.

“Visit this one if you visit only one Chateau!”

This is one of the most famous chateaux, and rightfully so. It is just great and the entire visit, starting with the walk through the grounds is just fantastic.

Lovely setting. The chateau is very well maintained. The written guide you get for free is very comprehensive and you don't really need to get the audio guide. This place can be very crowded, so get there early is you can. The fresh flower arrangements is all the rooms are stunning. There is a very nice cafe on the grounds, fairly reasonable prices and good food. There is a picnic area near the car park, which is about a 15 minute walk to the chateau. Limited bathrooms - I only saw one location with two stalls for women.
