“Amazing place to visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 13, 2013

I loved my visit to this pretty chateau. The history behind the chateau explains the beauty of it (mainly occupied by women).

It was incredible to be able to walk through fully equiped kitchens and stores as they would have been back in the day - something not a lot of chateau's offer. It has been wonderfully restored with attention to detail.

There are two options for lunches, one being more formal dining the other being takeway option with casual seating. We were unable to secure a booking in the dining area so I suggest you book ahead to avoid disappointment.

“A true fairy tale castle”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 12, 2013 via mobile

What a beautiful chateau so well presented. Full of important French history easily accessible to Anglophones through a very good audio presentation - factual , clear , and not too long - perfect ! Such a photogenic location . 2 Small attractive formal gardens and extensive woodland , a historic farm with attached nursery garden producing flowers for the stunning floral displays inside the chateau. A waxworks display with rather difficult to read English captions is in a separate building (with a separate extra charge) There is a gift shop and two places to eat (one posh one not so) although both eateries were shut when we were there (Saturday in March) and picnics inside the grounds are forbidden .
Plenty of parking and the train station is within spitting distance of the chateau
Absolutely would recommend

“Reflections of the Past”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2013

This castle is beautiful, full of interesting history, and should be visited. Because of that, it's crowded (especially during the summer high-season). Explore the chateau, and be sure to go to the other side of the river, down to the bank, to take a post-card perfect picture of the castle's reflection on the slow moving water.

“Stunning chateau”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

We visited on a very cold Sunday, so not too many other visitors. Just beautiful, and would also be great to visit later in the year when the gardens and surrounding woodland would be wonderful to walk in. Everything kept in fantastic order, and the stunning floral displays in nearly every room merit a visit in their own right.

“Amazing Chateau”

A truly incredible chateau built over a river and with fantastic grounds. We were visting nearby Amboise and this was a highlight of our short stay in the Loire region.
