The Good: We ugraded to a Cathedral view, which was well worth the extra expense. How many times in your life do you get to see Chartres Cathedral from your room? The view of Chatres Cathedral from room 314 (and some other rooms) was incredible. We could watch the light show on the Cathedral from our bed. We could not have asked for a better view, even though the hotel is actually a few blocks away from the Cathedral. The view was stunning. The young woman who runs the hotel, Nathalie, was very helpful. The room itself was very average, but so was the cost of the room. This is not a fancy hotel, but quite nice.
The Bad: The room lights all went on and off at the same time. If you turned a light on, they all went on. If you turned a light off, they all went off. It was impossible to get low lighting. There were 2 little spotlights at the bed that did not work on the same switch, but they were very bright.
Also, the room safe did not work.

Room Tip: Ask for a good view of the Cathedral (room 314)

Location of hotel is ideal, just a few minutes from the historic centre & cathedral. Only complaint would be the cost & quality of the breakfast - would strongly recommend going to a local cafe. Bonus is a large, private car park.

The main advantage of staying with a chain of hotels is that you pretty much know what to expect. Great if the standard is generally high, of course If the standard is not to your liking you know to avoid the chain in future.

This was my first stay in a Qualys hotel, and applying the latter of my two rules above, it will accordingly be my last.

It was the last night of our holiday and France and I had booked a Grand Privilege Room for €135. This was the most expensive of their three tier system and I had expected at least a larger room and perhaps some extras e.g. nice soap, bathrobe etc.

The room was in my view very basic, smelling mouldy / musty, certainly not fresh. I returned to the receptionist, who in fairness did her best to be helpful. She explained that actually the only difference between the rooms is the floor you are on. Ths the top floor is most expensive but identical in room sizes / furnishing / content to the ground floor. I retorted that the only difference I could see in this was that it take longer to leave the building if it caught fire!

Unless you are on the upper floors of a skyscraper hotel with great views, I find it extraordinary that a hotel chain feel it appropriate to charge according to he floor you are on!

I asked if I could upgrade but apparently there is nothing to upgrade to! The receptionist did allow us to look at other rooms, but they were as she said, all more or less the same, some in fact much darker.

The bathroom was certainly the least attractive aspect of the room, with mould on the grouting, old fashioned shower curtains and one of those antiquated All-in-one hair dryers with a hose, that will dry your hair if you are prepared to dedicate an hour or two the process.

Had they not taken a deposit as part of the booking process, I would have looked elesewhere.

As a goodwill gesture they reduced the rate to the basic fee. But a great disappoinment based on the other reviews.

This hotel is in a great location - easy to find, and very close to the train station and the cathedral. The grand privilege room was very clean, with air conditioning, free internet, a big tub, and very comfy beds, as well as a lovely view of the cathedral. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We enjoyed a couple of drinks on the little terrace in the back, and there was a good selection of food for breakfast. Parking in the back was worth the extra charge as there was limited availability on the street.

A wonderful view of Chartres Cathedral from our room's window -- wow! Location of this hotel is perfect -- within walking distance to the Cathedral and shopping and restaurants, and just a few blocks from the train station. Liked the complimentary WiFi, the nice roomy bathroom, the king bed. Modern hotel with good service.
