We got a great deal on this hotel thats why we went there,1st the only bad point, which is why it only scored 2 points, the breakfast at around £30 for 2 it is not cheap, the usual french spread of assorted goodies, but there was a covered hotplate which when we opened it all that was inside was a dried up dollop of scrambled egg, whe we asked the assistant we were told it should also have bacon and sausage, but we were told to take a seat and she would bring some over to us,she arrived 5 minutes later with a plate with 2 cocktail sausages and 2 small rashers of bacon, we told her this was not enough, so she headed off and came back another 5 minutes later, not too happy, with the same again. We were sitting beside the hotplate for 45 minutes while we ate the rest of our breakfast which was lovely, but not once was the hotplate topped up.Apart from that we could not fault a thing our room was enormous, the bar was great, our meal in the restaurant was exceptional, swimming pool, skating rink, gymn, lovely outside sun terrace, shame about the breakfast.

Standard Novotel. Clean, comfortable, quiet room with bath shower and separate toilet. Staff friendly and helpful. Ideal one night stop off hotel. Has the added bonus of an onsite secure car park.
10 min car journey into Chartres centre
Restaurant was closed

Room Tip: Superior rooms are supposedly more modern

Big and tidy rooms, but with uncomfortable beds :/ Additional payment for wi-fi!! 500 meters to the nearest supermarket (carrefour). 15minutes by car or 1hour on foot to the centre of town. Miscellaneous breakfasts but still the same boiled sausages and scrambled eggs. Despite these disadvantages I recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Several rooms have better and more comfortables beds.

Booked as an overnight stop on the way back from south of France with teenager and two dogs. Functional and clean, helpful staff and lovely pool but very cold. Restaurant was ok, food good, but wasn't as good as other places we ate during our trip to France - the food in France is better than UK , but this was like eating at home. Parking good but overall experience when compared to the other places we stayed on this trip, I would rather travel a little further and stay at the Novotel Orleans Cedex.

I was looking for a decent family-friendly hotel for an overnight stop on our journey back from the Dordogne to Calais. As our 2 children are young, 2 and 5, the description of this hotel, with its outdoor pool, indoor children's playground, and proximity to Chartres centre, seemed to fit the bill perfectly.

On arrival at the hotel, we were checked in quite quickly, the staff gave the children a little welcome page with a soft toy which was sweet.
The room was fine, for 4 of us to sleep in 1 room was a little cramped admittedly but I didn't expect a suite. It had a double bed and a sofa bed which was 2 separate parallel single beds, but with the sofa beds pulled out there was no floor space left. At under £100 per room per night, I didn't think this was unreasonable to be fair.
On our way to the room, we were excited to see other guests clearly making their way outside to the swimming pool, and after 5 hours in the car, we quickly made our way down there ourselves. However, when we got there, we arrived at the same conclusion as everyone else, in that we weren't going in. The pool was absolutely freezing, a remarkable achievement given that this would have been at the end of August, and there was a strange cover pulled a third of the way over the pool.
As an alternative, we thought we'd explore the reported indoor playground. However, again we were disappointed. The childrens' playground consisted of a large room with a few sofas, a small rack of books, and 2 playstations plugged into the wall.
So, we thought we'd just have some dinner and then perhaps go for a walk to give the kids some exercise. But the restaurant menu was very disappointing as it was uninspiring, limited and pricey.

We ended up walking into the centre of Chartres for dinner, as it gave the children (and us) some exercise, albeit more than we planned. It's estimated at 5km, and that seems conservative now :)

All in all, an average hotel of which I had higher expectations given the description and reputation. Perfectly adequate for an overnight stop when you've limited time, however we had a much better experience in the Ibis near Chartres cathedral, which was actually cheaper but much nicer.

Have stayed here a few times over the years en route to or returning from the Camargue.
The room was still very good with an excellent shower. The bar is still fine but the food is disgusting now. It used to be good although never cheap. The muck we got this last time was awful - burger bar food at 5 star prices. The burger bars do better food !
Won't risk staying again Novotel. Pity because I have stayed with your group in the UK and France and Monaco and all have been very good. This time I have given 3 stars for the room and and bar but none for the restaurant. Must do better.

Room Tip: Ask for room on the side of the swimming pool to avoid road noise.
