“Great Location, reasonable value, over night stop.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

Myself, my boyfriend & our little cocker spaniel stayed here on an over night stop during our trip down to the South of France.
The location of this hotel is excellent! It is right in the centre of Chartres. Just outside the hotel there is a lovely walkway, along the way there are a number of different war memorials, and it takes you right up to the Cathedral. The Cathedral is definitely worth a look, its spectacular. Up near the Cathedral there are lots of cute little street with restaurants in, we eventually decided to eat nearer the hotel but in hindsight would recommend eating near the cathedral as its a much nicer setting.
The rooms are absolutely fine for what we needed (stop over hotel). They are typical Ibis rooms, minimal but have everything you need.
The hotel staff were very friendly, and were happy to help, or point you in the direction of something you were looking for.
There is a car park at the hotel, you do need to pay for this separately (€7), worth it as nice and secure if you are leaving some luggage in there? Alternatively there is another car park right outside the hotel, I am not sure how much this would cost?
They were great as well with our dog, no issues bringing her along :)
I would recommend this as a great stop over hotel!!

We had driven past this hotel on many occasions but did not like the look of it, but decided to give it a try, it was a lot better than expected, our problem was when we arrived, early afternoon, 1 girl on reception seemed to be doing everything, while 2 people in the adjoining office were sitting talking and reception was busy,we got our cases into the room and after having driven for around 6 hours we went down to the lovely bar to sit and have a well deserved drink,we ordered a bottle of the house white wine,it was the girl from reception that served us, we knew there was a problem because she was looking very flustered, she came over to us and told us we could not get a bottle of any wine because she could not find the corkscrew,we could only get wine by the glass from the bottles that were already opened,we told her no problem we had our own corkscrew in the room, you always carry one with you in case your hotel does not have a bar, so we got our own corkscrew, next problem no one had put the white wine in the chiller, so the wine was warm,it was not the best thing to drink, warm white wine, considering it was 38 degrees outside and a bottle of chilled wine would have been great.Apart from that we had a lovely meal in the hotel that night and would recommend this hotel, we will return, but mind take your corksrew.

We stopped here en route from Metz to northern Poitou-Charentes. We have not stayed in an Ibis hotel or similar for many years. We were very pleasantly surprised by the acceptability of our experience. The location was easy to find and handy for a nice stroll up to the Cathedral The parking, at extra cost, was secure and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, quiet, pleasant and adequate. The evening meal was satisfactory. Breakfast, which we ate on the terrace, was very good for the price. We have no complaints at all.

Room Tip: We looked out onto the terrace. There were no noise issues at all.

We had low expectations based on a sister hotel higher up the chain, but we're surprised about the size and comfort of the family room, with a double and two full sized singles, blinds also made sleeping late easy. The restaurant wasn't great and we didn't take the breakfast but otherwise it was great value for money, be careful on the parking, you have to arrive early to get a place in the gated car park, otherwise public car parking is available.

We used this IBIS as a stopover on our way further south. Pretty easy to find and staff are friendly. If you're using the car park alongside/underneath then dash into reception, check in and get a code for the gates. This costs, of course (6 euros I recall).

The room was just fine - clean and comfortable with a decent shower. The location is very good though - it's about a 10 minute relaxed walk to the Cathedral and restaurants etc in the old town. It has a nice terrace next to the river where you can have a drink or breakfast if the weather's ok.

Which brings me on to the one problem with this place - breakfast. I would definitely echo the concerns of other reviewers here. We went down about 8.15 and there were no bowls for cereal, fruit etc. We helped ourselves to bread, ham, cheese and tortilla which were all perfectly fine. Coffee was also good but I had to put orange juice in a takeaway coffee cup as there were no glasses. Eventually some more tortilla appeared but was half-frozen and when we left there was a queue of about 15 hapless customers waiting for some food to turn up. As we went past the only thing I could see was the chopped/stewed fruit but no bowls in which to put any of it.

One of the staff then brought out some plates but God knows how long these hungry unfortunates had to wait for any food. At least they had some crockery to hug. So I guess the message is to get down before 8.30 if you want any food. This is a pretty terrible oversight on the part of the hotel (especially at 9 euros a pop) and one which they need to fix. If they did so I'd be able to rate this place more highly as it's got a lot going for it.

We stayed here on our way to the Dordogne. Excellently situated with a short stroll into town to its magnificent cathedral. The room was clean and tidy along with the bathroom and the bed was amazingly comfortable! Breakfast was a bit pricy but that's not unusual for French hotels! Car park was secure but for another additional charge of 6 euros! All in all though a good place to stop and would do so again!

We stayed for one night on way down to south of France. Tiny room, very basic, dreadful breakfast for €9, bed & linen just passable.

On the positive side, the staff were very pleasant and the parking was handy.
