My husband and myself stayed in the 'Bleue' room last Tuesday (25th Oct 2011) and thought it was a lovely place to stay. The proprietor was incredibly friendly and very helpful and she also spoke excellent English which was nice as our French perhaps leaves a little to be desired! The hotel is almost in arms reach of the beautiful Cathedral and our room was very large, airy and light and very tastefully decorated as well as very clean and neat. The en-suite shower room was gorgeous and quite unusual. The staff were friendly and the food was good too. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone. Chartres is a lovely old town and Le Parvis is the place to stay when you go.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front all have a view of the cathedral.

Stayed here one night in Chambre des Anges, up under the rafters. Rustic decor with modern amenities in this small hotel right on the forecourt of the Cathedral. Hot tub with little mood lights was a nice touch in the bathroom. Comfortable bed, easy access in and out. Didn't get to enjoy breakfast due to early departure next day, so no comment on that. Loads of shopping and restaurants available nearby. Booked through booking.com which went smoothly; property pics on their website were accurate. We approached the hotel from the wrong side, and struggled with the extremely narrow streets and our GPS thinking all streets were wide enough for our tiny car. Parking is included in price.

Le Parvis is actually a restaurant with rooms upstairs. It has a perfect location right next to the Chartres Cathedral. Our room was on the third floor with big windows facing the Cathedral and on the other side of the street. It had a small living room, a bedroom and a small kitchenette. The shower was THE BEST EVER! It was huge with multiple spray heads. We had dinner in the small restaurant & it was very good. The owner and his staff were all very nice. It was more like visiting friends then staying in a hotel. Since the restaurant was small and it wasn't a very busy night, we wound up talking to a couple from England for several hours. The only negative I have about Le Parvis is that there is no elevator. If you are handicapped or don't want to haul luggage up the stairs , this place is not for you. I toured the Chartres very early before anyone was around. A gentlemen who was picking up the garbage out front showed us which door was open early and we had the place to ourselves. The cathedral is an UNESCO site well worth visiting and Le Parvis's location and charm makes it THE place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the cathedral.

We stayed for just one night in Henry IV room which is a perfect mix of beautiful old architectural features with quirky modern touches. The bed was super comfy with lovely crisp linen and good pillows.

Breakfast included homemade preserves as well as cheese and ham. We could have chosen to make complete pigs of ourselves! The owners couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. Altogether a great little gem of a hotel and we will be back.

Our trip to Chartres started badly, deviation signs everywhere made a difficult hotel to find an absolute nightmare. The manager had kindly sent by email a page of "how to find us notes" which without I doubt we would have managed. When we arrived we unloaded our bags directly outside the hotel and then drove to the underground car park which was a few hundred yards away. Reasonably straight forward, not particularly convenient. But what you got for the mild inconvenience was a superb position, only a few yards from the Cathedral entrance in the middle of the old town. The town of Chartres is an absolute gem, great for wandering around. Our visit to The Cathedral was made memorable by the organist practicing for an evening concert. Cathedrals come alive when filled with music, just magnificent. Later In the evening I thought I would try some city night photography and was just about to retire when in the cathedral square a spectacular light show began. The whole show lasted about ten minutes, and was repeated in a loop. The Cathedral illuminated by coloured light effects. Quite spectacular, free and unexpected.
The room in the hotel was quirky, but large and comfortable, with a great shower. Wi Fi
was free but very slow. Breakfast was more than adequate, ham, cheese as well as Baguette and Pain au Chocolate. All in all quite an experience. Would definitely return.

If you want 5 star luxury, go to a Marriott or something similar. if on the other hand you want something full of character and individuality, this is a lovely small (5 room) hotel right in the sqaure by the marvellous Chartres cathedral. The people who run it are really trying hard and it shows. Simple, clean, good value for money and a location right next to the Cathedral. We stayed 2 nights. On the first night, we went to a restaurant in Chartres and paid 150 Euro for a very indifferent meal for 2 at a restaurant that looked much better that it was. The second night we ate in Le Parvis for half the price, twice the atmosphere. Not "gourmet" but but simple, great food.
The Cathedral bells will wake you up in the morning at 8 am!
