We stayed in the hotel and enjoyed the old but charming interior with its different facets. The staff were very friendly and gave us amap and marked the best places to dine. Breakfast was typically French, nice.

Blois is short of decent hotels. The France et de Guise is opposite the Chateau in Blois town centre and trades heavily on the fact. Rooms are small, breakfast is average (but friendly staff). A much better option is to stay at the Auberge du Centre in Chitenay and visit Chateau Cheverny (much prettier and more to do) and maybe make a day trip to Blois to see the Chateau. One of those rare occasions where a chain-Mercure or Ibis-may be a better option if you stay in Blois
We thank you for taking time to have written your advice.
We would like to clarify some points. The three hotels mentioned are 3 or 4 stars hotels with prices displayed between 110 € and 184 €. We are a 2 stars hotel situated in the center of the town of Blois.
Our clients appreciate our good value for money ( 59 € or 69 € for a double room) and ideal location in front of the castle which allows them to visit our nice town without using their car.
With our best Regards
What a friendly family run hotel - I want to say thank you to Vincent and all the staff for your warm and friendly welcome. I have never felt so welcome in a hotel before. I am not surprised it got Trip Advisor 2012. It's a perfect location - 2 mins from shops - 10 mins from train station. Next to Chateau Blois. The girls from Twickenham area would like to say Thank you so much, you are made our celebrations perfect.
We stopped here after not getting in to another highly recommended hotel on tipadvisor and the staff there recommended this hotel and made reservations for us. To start with the negatives our room was a room for four, no 26 and I needed a bit of an update. The shower over the bath had a shower curtain with a mind of its own so made keeping the water where it should have been difficult. The rest of the hotel was fine the room was clean but had a disappointing view over the rear ally. The communal rooms were fine and the hotel has a small lift. The breakfast was a good continental style buffet, we were quickly seated, served and hot drinks and other items were replenished. The staff on reception were great, gave us an excellent recommendation for a eclectic french restaurant in the town. They allowed us to park motorcycles in garage which is off the rear ally and accessed by a pedestrian street. We also left an item of property in the room which was recovered by house keeping, we had already travelled over 200 miles before this was discovered and then via phone and email the staff at the hotel agreed to package and post the item to the UK. This arrived today and we are very grateful for their help.
This s a nice family run hotel, in a good location I would use this hotel again. I have added the photo which although does not show the hotel at its best as other photos do it does show the alley way which was our view and access to the rear garage. Don't let this photo put you off staying here.
Hotel de France et de Guise is located in the centre of town. Sitting on our balcony we overlooked beautiful Chateau Blois as horse drawn carriages passed below us. Blois is a very charming town. As a photographer I highly recommend staying here for at least a few days.
We stayed at the Hotel de France et de Guise as on overnight stop on the way back from the south of France. Blois seemed like a place worth spending an evening in, so I found the hotel via Trip Advisor. Great location, almost opposite the Chateau, our room on the second floor looked out onto it. Very friendly welcome from the reception staff who spoke good english and were most helpful. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and double glazing kept the noise down from the quite busy roads outside. The smallest bathroom I've ever seen, and could have done with a couple of shoehorns to get in and out of the shower cubicle, but it was clean and the shower was good and hot.
Hotel had no off road parking, meters in road out front, but all full, however about 100m from hotel around to the left are some off road car parks, pay and display but free after 6:30pm and all day sunday.
Typical continental breakfast, bread, croissants and coffee, and the service was good.
Blois was quite busy, it was a Saturday evening, but good choice of eating places at all levels. Interesting place to wander around and people watch, plus some great old buildings and churches. We stumbled across a free concert being given in a nearby church, lovely atmosphere.
Would visit Blois again, and stay at this hotel.
