We were staying at the Chauteau Du Breuil outside Cheverny and drove into Blois one evening for dinner at Relais de la Tour (RdlT). The restaurant is in an 18th century farm house which is now completely surrounded by urban Blois buildings. The grounds were nicely landscaped and the farm house's interior was elegant and tastefully decorated. RdlT's wait staff were professional, yet friendly and attentive. We had quite a large group dining, so it did take awhile for all our rounds of food to be delivered to our tables.
I started with an appetizer of Terrine aux foies de volailles et confiture d'oignon - a chicken liver pate with pistachios and onion jam. My travel companion ordered the Avocat de la Tour fromage blanc et crrevettes - home made avocado with cheeses and shrimp.
Our main course choices were Supremem de Canetan aux trois fruits sauce cremem et poivre vert - Duckling with three fruits in a cream sauce with green peppers. Coq au vin et sa garniture - chicken in wine with vegetables.
For dessert we chose Nougat glace - home made nougat ice cream and Gatreau aux trois chocolat crème anglaise - three chocolate cake with custard.
Along with very good French bread, butter and two glasses of wine; made for delicious and enjoyable meals in an elegant French farmhouse atmosphere.
