In the corridors we saw dirty on the floor and also in the room.
The air conditiong didn't function and we had to insist to have our room changed.
The second one was better but we found the personel not very polite.
It is not worth 4 stars at all.

The room was quite fine, however the A/C was making strange noises. Also the WC was not stable - moving once you were trying to sit on it.. old hairdryer, you could guess from paint left over of different decor of the previous bathroom.

Corridor looked bad - like in student's house, with an old carpeting and dirty...

Breakfast was a challenge - too many people, not enough staff to cope with the dirty tables, refill of the products. Variety of choice - poor and not a quality one, cheap ham that tasted only salt, even scrambled eggs were disgusting..

Seriously, can one call it a 4stars hotel and Novotel on top of that? Euhh... I would give a max of 3 starst and would rename it to Formule1..

Our GPS brought us to the Holiday Inn, but the sign said Novotel. The parking was free and the price was 115 E for the night. We did not get the breakfast. There were no vending machines in the hotel for sodas or snacks.

We were told they changed from IHG to Novotel that day. We could still smell the paint drying. They did a make over into the Novotel design for sure. The room had a modern feel to it.

The Holiday Inn Blois provides great place to stay when passing through the Loire Valley to Paris. Upon arrival, the staff was friendly and quickly gave us our room access. The rooms were large by european standard and were comfortable. When I walked into the room, it was very hot though. I searched for a thermostat on the wall but couldn’t find one. After looking at the radiator, I saw that the controls were on there but were not very specific (it provided several modes and a turn dial with levels 1-8 for intensity).

The beds were comfortable, and the wifi was generally speedy for a European hotel. Breakfast was very good, with a wide selection of meats, cheeses (at least 6 cheeses were put out!), cereals, breads, fruits, etc. along with an elaborate coffee maker with many options.

I generally don't expect people in foreign countries to speak English, but I do at hotel chains like Holiday Inn (IHG), especially in urban areas. While most of the staff did speak English fine, a lady on night shift did not. This presented a problem when we came back on our last night to find the parking lot full and could not get any comprehension from staff about where we could park our vehicle on the streets, if at all.

Breakfast was expensive for what you got, yet tasty for what it was.

I believe it was this hotel were I first encountered having to place the room card into a wall adapter in order for the lights to turn on. That's a tip for you if you enter a room and no lamps or lights seem to work. Try your keycard on the wall! :)

Ultimately we stayed here because, at the time, it cost 10,000 IHG points, which was a steal. I think the points-price increased not long after we booked or stayed. The location wasn't a bad walk into the center of town, though. But without using points to stay, we'd probably look for somewhere else to stay if we came back.
