What an enjoyable evening - food was delicious, the wines were excellent and the service was top notch. We sat indoors which was fairly empty (outside space almost full) which was good - spacious layout always appeals. Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

Went here on a recommendation-definitely not disappointed!
The setting itself is perfect-beamed rooms internally and a terrace area at the rear. We met and talked with the two stars of the show, Chef Damian, and his partner Anne.
The menu was varied, we had a goats cheese starter, not the usual one though, this cheese was encased in a nest of batter.
Our mains were lamb and John Dory, both brilliant. The cheeses were local and lovely, the peach tart dessert, prepared by Anne voted our best dessert in ages. If you are in the area, especially this most attractive town, eat HERE!

An amazing restauraunt run by two young food and wine lovers.
It was an amazing evening, my wife and I enjoyed it so much that we went back four times during our stay in the Loire and brought to try it out.
I can personally recommend the Smoked Salmon to start, followed by the Lamb and finish off with the Cheese. All washed down with an excellent Bordeaux, recommended by our very friendly and knowledgeable Maitre D.
The menu is concise and expertly made, decorated with simple sauces or garnishes.

I reviewed Le Petit Bateau a year ago but it could have been thirty years ago, the experience was a Cordon Blue time warp back to the days of Graham Kerr and Fanny Craddock.
The new owners have changed all that, a short menu of expertly prepared new French dining, priced to attract all pockets.
The young couple now running it really care and it shows, attentive knowledgeable service of both the food and wine was really pleasing, and the food was extremely good as well. Fresh, interesting flavour and texture combinations, well presented, all make for keen dining.
On the night we dined the female of the duo was running front of house all on her own. The restaurant was nearly full and she worked her butt off, but remained calm at all times with time to talk and advise on menu choices. Whether she has help I cannot tell, but in time they might choose to employ another waiter or waitress, if only to preserve their relationship.
I wish them luck, they are trying very hard.
