To celebrate the brunette's 40th we decided to go back to this restaurant we were ate a few weeks after we met, 17 years ago. That night's meal was, by far, the best we'd ever had in our young, inexperienced lives.
I've given the 4 stars because of the wife's meal. Mine was a three-starrer. (She always wins!)
My creme de petit pois with rabbit confit seemed very interesting but it was pretty boring and the lamb to follow decent enough. Opposite me were sesame langoustines and they were beautiful and her duck dish worked way better than mine. The strawberry "soups" for dessert were the highlight.
The two wines seemed way overpriced. 46€ for a very average Crozes Hermitage; not the right "Chave".
But NO AMUSE BOUCHE. 2 menus at 43€ and no amuse bouche or avant dessert is not on. Two very expensive bottles of wine and not so much as a saucer of nuts.
I suppose I shouldn't be so annoyed but I am.
And yes, I've just changed the overall rating back to 3.
Service was ok. Too slow getting the wine which we wanted as an aperitif.
