Just take your time and go early to avoid tourist buses. nice little cafe on your way out and we brought a little book at the shop about the chateau which only cost about 6 euro. also make sure you walk around all of the gardens and grassed areas as you get better and differing views of the chateau

“Stunning”

A beautiful chateau that is well worth a visit. It is set in the heart of a pretty village. Although not the biggest chateau we have visited it is in the most picturesque setting. The grounds are not huge but we enjoyed a lovely stroll round the water's edge, pausing to admire (and photograph) the chateau. The rooms inside are worth a look too with beautiful furnishings and tapestries. English guides are available to hire (at extra cost) and there was information in English in every room, which is often not the case in France. There are some lovely views from the windows, some of which can be opened. We were free to roam around the rooms at our leisure too (no stern guides watching over you here!) and none were roped off. There is a large gift shop, though it is quite expensive and a tea room. Do explore the village where there are a variety of small eateries and a few nice gift shops if you like shopping! All in all we had a lovely afternoon and it was good value as the children got in for free.

Not the best chateaux we saw - but worth the effort to see it and the surrounding village is beautiful to wander through

“Beautiful building set in charming grounds”

One of the most beautiful of the Loire chateaux, lovely airy rooms, great staircase, interesting portraits. Then walk round the grounds and see the chateau reflected in its moat - a wonderful sight.

“Wortha Look”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2013

This is a fairy tale looking chateau which is worth a visit. We spent about 2.5 hours there and that was about enough. The house is fairly interesting but the guided tour in English (included in the price) was not very informative and played a distinct second fiddle to an obviously more extensive French one.
