“Beautiful hotel with great service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2010

We booked a triple room for our 4 day visit to Amboise. The room was located on the top floor of the hotel facing the gardens. We did not encounter any noise just the chirping of the birds. The triple room is well appointed with a nice sitting area and an updated bathroom.. A portable air conditioning unit worked very well and kept the room cool. The staff were very helpful and we could not have asked for better service. The gardens and the pool were wonderuful. A very peaceful and serene enviroment after a busy day in the Amboise and surrounding area. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and a very good deal for those wanting more than just a pastry and coffee to start the day. There are multiple bakeries with in walking distance but you will pay more for a pastry and coffee than for a full breakfast at the hotel.. The hotel is well located and very close to the city center. Bike rental is close by and the hotel does offer storage for bikes in the carraige house. If you are planning on visiting any of the surrounding Chateau's there are some coupons for discounted admissions located in the lobby. This was a wonderful hotel. Would stay there again without hesitation.

We stayed here last week and thought the hotel was beautiful. Amboise itself is a gorgeous town and I highly recommend a visit there.
The hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. The room was lovely and we slept so well - it is very quiet there. Excellent location and gorgeous garden to relax in. Whilst in Amboise we recommend visiting Marc Bredif in Vouvray - fantastic wines and tour of the family business.
We had breakfast at the hotel which was great too.
You should definitely stay here!

Everything is fine, reasonable price, beautiful environment, just avoid booking the classic room, which is on the roof, more like a penthouse; the space is restricted because of the roof. People taller than 160 cms, especially guys, might have problems while using the toilet. No curtain in the bathroom, I don't know how to shower without geting the bathroom flooded.
One more thing worth noting is that the wifi doesn't work in room upstairs.
The conclusion is that you can book this lovely hotel , just spend a little more to upgrade.

We booked a basic room with a shower and ended up on the bottom floor. The room itself was nicely decorated. It was rather small but we didn't expect much in terms of size since we booked the most basic room. The building was old so the floors were creaky and the walls were thin. The first night we had someone above in the building and could hear their every move and conversations. It was terrible. Once the people left above us, the stay became much better as the room was quieter. The hotel grounds were nice but it was cold when we visited so we didn't take advantage. The pool was freezing and not sure it would ever be warm enough to use. Also, if you are looking to use their gym, it had 2-3 pieces of equipment and was being used for storage when we visited, so basically not a gym. The hotel was in a good location about 4-5 minutes from the city center. To sum up this hotel would be a good choice, good value, good location, nice room and grounds unless you're a light sleeper or bring your ear plugs.

We booked this hotel based on the many positive TripAdvisor reviews. We were not disappointed - Amboise was wonderful, and Le Clos d'Amboise was centrally located. Amboise is small enough that it's easy to walk to everything in town in minutes. It was also a good base camp for exploring the Loire Valley. We spent day one exploring Chenonceau and Tours and the next day exploring Le Clos Lucé and Château de Chaumont. We then checked out Château de Chambord on the drive back to Paris.

We made good use of the in-room fridge by bringing back pastries and treats from the bakeries in town. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast on-site. There are plenty of options by walking a few minutes to one of the several bakeries in the mornings.

We stayed in the center of the upper floor of the main buidling with a nice view of the grounds. The grounds were manicured and very well kept. The weather was perfect, and we had the windows open in the evening to let in some cool, fresh breezes.

We were so pleasantly surprised to see this hotel in National Gepgraphic Traveler months after we had stayed. It was the most delightful place in the most romantic town. The three girls stayed in the top floor of the stables in the most interesting room. It was HUGE and slept the three of them comfortably. We stayed downstairs in the ground floor next to the sauna room. Our bath was huge and the room spotless and large.

The hotel is located in a converted bourgeois mansion in an old section of Amboise. Our room, described as a Comfort level room, was quite large with sofa, chairs, coffee table, queen-size bed, and a desk. The bathroom was large, with a tub, and there was adequate closet space for two. Internet service was excellent. The room looked out on the enclosed back yard of the hotel, which made it very quiet. Everything was clean and well maintained. There was also an outdoor pool and lounge area. A large continental breakfast was provided with lots of coffee, juice, yogurt, cereal, bread, and excellent croissants.

The exterior of the hotel was very pretty, and the yard and garden were well maintained. The hotel also had off the street parking, which is very important in Amboise. The hotel appeared to be operated by two families, and all the staff were friendly and helpful.

The only downside for some may be that the hotel has no elevator, and many rooms are on the upper floors.
