This gem is nestled in the quaint village streets. Our room overlooked the carriage house and gardens that were twinkling with Christmas lights. A comfortable queen sized bed and large sitting area made the room perfect. The lounge/breakfast room had a perpetual fire crackling. We ate a delicious breakfast.each morning....fresh meats & cheeses, crusty bread, and cafe au lait. One evening we brought cheeses, bread, olives & berries and set up in front of the fire. Olivier, the concierge, opened a bottle of sparkling wine and we enjoyed a peaceful end to a lovely day. This hotel is fabulous!

We came across this hotel by chance while driving through the Loire. Beautiful building, very friendly and helpful staff. The room was spacious, well equipped, very clean, good bed and sheets. Only thing was the bath/shower, couldn't work out how to shower without spraying water all over the bathroom!
Breakfast was average.
They recommended a good restaurant for dinner, as it was Sunday night we were pleased.
Overall a nice place.

It was a great hotel, albeit expensive. The room was adjacent to the driveway, but we found it quiet and with air conditioning - which we welcomed in the heat! The boys (10&11) shared a pullout couch and my wife and I had the double bed. The bathroom was really nice, reasonable space in the room and comfortable bedding. Our favorite amenity was the swimming pool that was located in a serene little garden with Roman figurines and columns. The kids loved this pool, and we loved the comfy chaises - we went in day after our chateau adventures. We ate breakfast one morning, but found it expensive for what we got, although it was a nice setting.

The location is perfect, with easy walking to the town for snacks, laundry, some shopping (my wife bought three purses). Each night we ate out by the Amboise Château along the main square with great choices each time and lots of activity.

We stayed here as part of a packaged tour. The staff was always friendly and helpful. An easy walk to shops, restaurants, the chateau, or Clos de Luce, the last home of Da Vinci. The hotel is small, only 11 rooms. We had a comfortable room on the 2nd (3rd in US) floor. It has the charm of a building originally constructed in the 16th century. Bathroom is modern with seperate tub and shower; the commode is in a seperate closet sized room. We chose to take the elevator over the staircase. Included breakfast was simple, with breads, cheese, yogurt, some sliced meat, and hard boiled eggs. Room lighting is weak, it was nearly impossible to read at night. WiFi worked well.

I love it when a property meets your expectations, and this one did just that! Our room was upstairs (a very small, narrow staircase) in the carriage house, and was very charming with its beamed, vaulted ceilings. There was a sitting area with a sofa and coffee table and a writing desk opposite that, with the bed tucked away in an alcove, and a nicely-sized, modern bathroom. Although the bathroom did not have a designated shower, the tub had a shower attachment which served very well. I was hesitant about it at first (erroneously thinking I would have to hold it with one hand), but it ended up being just fine...would not hesitate to book this room again.
The gentleman who checked us in and out was extremely nice and helpful, speaking English, and giving us directions and recommendations.
The grounds are just lovely, with bicycles which I would have loved to use to explore the town had we more time!
There is a restaurant (La Cene) just across the street, which we dined at and was good as well as convenient.
The property is a nice, short walk to the main center of town and the chateau. The parking was a little tight, in that spaces were very small, but was very thankful for the on-site parking!!
Thank you, Le Clos d'Amboise, for delivering what you advertise and for your genial hospitality!!

The hotel is exactly as it is shown in the website photos. The hotel and the courtyard were absolutely a lovely site to wake up to every morning. The location in the town of Amboise was superb. The hotel is withing walking distance of the city center, which makes it very convenient to walk to dinner and the local sites. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful as needed. The water did go out one morning in the entire hotel, but it was back on upon our return that evening. I suppose that may be expected from a 17th century building! Amboise is a great headquarter location to tour many of the lovely Loire Valley Chateau. I would love to visit again in the summer to have the opportunity to take a dip in the lovely swimming pool. This hotel is a great value for the price and there is parking, which is rare in a city center. You must ask for a room with a view of the courtyard. This is a beautiful way to start your day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the interior courtyard. Very quiet and the views are lovely.

We didn't know where we were going & ended up in Amboise and chose le d'amboise. It was a magnificent inn right in the city with beautiful grounds. Great experience! Close by were a number of castles to visit...and being in the Loire Valley, the local wine was abundant.
