We had a lovely room at Le Vieux Manoir with interesting furnishings and an updated bath and shower. The grounds are beautiful and a delicious breakfast was served in the conservatory looking out on the garden. The Manoir had space for parking and was within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and the Chateau in Amboise. It was also well located for visiting other sites in the area. Gloria was a great source of information for sites to see as well as places to eat and was quick to make dining reservations for us. Both Gloria and Bob made our stay in the Loire Valley a memorable one!

If you want to visit the Loire Valley, this is the place from which to center your visit. The Manoir is a beautiful place, excellent rooms with a great bath and shower. Don't miss the fabulous engravings and paintings that Gloria the proprietor, has collected and placed on the walls throughout. The gardens are beautiful, and breakfast is a delight with real coffee, a selection of cheeses, pastries, breads and fruit. There is a parking area on the site. Most importantly, Gloria will give you whatever advice you might need, from where the good restaurants are, to ratings of the various chateaux, to historical advice and local maps. Her fund of knowledge of the area is vast and she is willing to share with you what you need to know to have a fabulous time. We went to places and events we would not have known about or considered without her advice.

We received a very warm welcome on a cold rainy day. Our room was wonderful. At the top of the house views over the roof tops, a skylight in the tub area, simply charming. Breakfast is in a garden room and has lots of choices with fresh fruit every day and french press coffee. Gloria is a huge help in planning your stay, chateau features, restaurants etc. Hotel is well located for walking to restaurants. The hotel was also very quiet and the gardens are pretty.

Our room was cute, terrific bath tub.
Our hosts were very pleasant and very helpful in pointing out which chateaus to see and how not to get lost driving in France. Great breakfast. Parking was easy once we found the hotel. Our hosts were from the United States so there were no problems communicating.

Le Vieux Manoir was a convent in a former life. Each of its guest rooms has a unique feel. Our room, the Madame de LaFayette was roomy, comfortable and felt like a real country inn. It had up-to-date plumbing with plenty of hot water whenever we wanted it. The B&B is fronted by a beautiful gated garden in the heart of Amboise. The chateau, restaurants, shops and promenade along the river are all just a few minutes' walk from Le Vieux Manoir. The location offers easy access to the roads that lead to the many chateaux and gardens nearby. Hosts Gloria and Bob Belknap make you feel at home. Gloria is a fountain of information on places to see, restaurants in town and around the region and how to get around the Loire Valley, just to mention a few. While it might seem a bit pricey, it's worth every euro. We heartily recommend Le Vieux Manoir.
