“Great value and a nice place.”
Reviewed April 17, 2013

Spent one night in this hotel. The owners were very nice and accomodating. I had a ground floor room which was perfect. The rooms on the 2nd floor have dormers that make it a little inconvenient for the person who sleeps on that side. The hotel was very well situated for exploring the town which was quite lovely. Wish we had more time to spend. The breakfast, which was extra, was very nice. Free parking was almost at the front door a big plus.

Room Tip: If you don't like to climb steps or if you are at all handicapped, ask for Room #1. It has a do...

We needed a place to stay during a long weekend of castle visiting in the Loire. We wanted to stay in Amboise for its central location, and this hotel was an easy-to-find good value within walking distance to Amboise Castle, the Loire, the Sunday market (a must) and dozens of restaurants. The half-timbered building is atmospheric (from the 1400s). Parking is plentiful on the nearby street and square, even over the weekend. The breakfasts included croissants and yogurt. Restaurant service was OK but I would characterize it as "self service" instead of a proper restaurant. (Coffee is from a vast machine, for instance.) I would stay here again based on excellent location and value for money. It's very easy to find excellent and extremely expensive hotels in the Loire, but this middle-of-the-road good value hotel is harder to come by.

Room Tip: Top floor quadruple bedroom was tight but workable for a family of four. Good wifi throughout. Watch...

We so enjoyed our stay, we intend to return ASAP! A good value, great location. Easy to find. The parking was convenient as well. This was a surprise as so many places were difficult to park. The town is charming, and fun. A great walking area and shopping. Easy to find food, and land marks..

Room Tip: They will advise appropriately.

We arrived here after dark on 1st January with no booking, but the kindly proprietors let us in & pointed us helpfully in the direction of a restaurant or two. The building itself is attractive, old & simply furnished, & within an easy stroll of the Chateau & town centre. Le Blason is comfortable & spotlessly clean, & they offer a substantial continental breakfast with excellent coffee in unlimited quantities. Adding to the charm, at least for us, was the proprietors' French Bulldog Croesus, who we were allowed to cuddle...

Basically, at E49 for a double room, we felt we were given excellent value for money & Le Blazon has the added advantage that Amboise represents a very attractive stop-off from the main autoroutes south that whizz past Tours. We will be stopping off next time, bringing a treat for Croesus.

We stayed at this hotel for five days in December. We booked a superior double room, expecting a standard double to be very small (typical for any european hotel). Even this room was not very large, but certainly adequate. The bed was comfortable, and the room was clean and well kept. As others noted, the bathroom is astonishingly small, a little clumsy but it was fine. Breakfast was typical (bread, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice) and good, and a good value. They even gave us early breakfast on request. Staff (really just the one young man we saw at the desk every day) was helpful when we asked questions. Hotel is well located, not far from the chateau, restaurants, shopping. No luxury here, but our experience was just fine. One exception is that the wifi was both unreliable and cumbersome. I wound up using the desktop computer located in the lobby, available to guests at all times. We took a cab to the hotel from the train station on arriving, but walked to the station after we got to know the city when we left. If you want a basic hotel at a good price, we think this hotel fits the bill.

Room Tip: I'd recommend a superior double instead of a standard double. There is no lift, if you have tro...

A short walk from the train (about 20 min) if the GPS is working correct. Again more small spiral stairs ( built in 1492). I only carry one bag at a time now. We had a window this time which opened to the street below. First walk was past the Royal mansion and to the house of Leonardo di Vinci which we toured the house and grounds. Worth the trip. We we in Amboise for the castle tours and enjoyed each of them. The breakfasts were always good with a little variety. Short 5 min walk to town and lots of eating places there.

Room Tip: The staircase is very narrow and hard to manourer a large suitcase.

We (my mom and I) loved this hotel. It's incredibly quaint and well-situated in the city. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly (and trust me, we asked a lot of really dumb questions, in English). We stayed on the second floor and took the narrow stairs up, which wasn't a problem for us, but might be for some. Our room was very small and simple, but clean and just right for our needs. The internet was reliable (we watched the second season of Downton Abbey during our trip, and streamed it with no problem). Breakfast was simple and delicious. Definitely recommend!
