Owner description: At the invitation of Francis I, Leonardo da Vinci came to live at the Château du Clos Lucé and stayed here for the last three years of his life, devoting himself to perfecting his inventions. Leonardo was prolific and inspired, working as an engineer, architect and theatrical director, organising lavish festivities for the Court. At his residence 300 metres from the Château Royal, he drew up plans for a model château for Francis I in Romorantin and designed the double-helix open staircase in the Château de Chambord. The Château du Clos Lucé is dedicated to showing and explaining to the public the great knowledge acquired by the Italian Maestro.

This place is expensive- very compared to other attractions in france. However it is a full days visit kind of place. There are hands on activities out in the huge park. Firing canons and winding wheels etc. There is a huge playground. The older kids knew exactly who leonardo was so it was really educational for them. There are paddle boats, inventions, videos to watch a tour and about 3 or 4 restaurants to eat at inside the grounds. This place was great fun.

The history behind this Chateau makes it certainly worth a visit. The gardens are lovely and a great day out if you have children who can roam.

Replica models of Leonardo da Vinci's inventions was also very interesting.

This place is more than just a beautiful Chateau and has something for all the family to see.

Thank MOConnell

The house was very crowded. It is small so we felt rushed by the tour group that was following us. There is lots to see, though obviously no Leonardo originals. The park is quite interesting, especially for the science and technology interested visitor but much of the presentation is repetitive. The cafe was very nice and we sat in the tea garden. The shop is interesting for buying things about Leonardo although there is virtually nothing in English.

We really enjoyed seeing the house and the inventions on display. The man was incredible and his ideas years ahead of his time. The park was especially wonderful with so many activities. If you are traveling with children its a must.....even if you're not.
