We didnt go for the 13 course degustation menu, as we need to travel to Paris. We chose 2 main courses - chef's specialties in Prawn/Lobster and Duck and two desserts. Lovely, and in between, we are treated with nice little snacks specially prepared by the Chef. They also customize kid-menu for our two young travellers, for 15 Euro, both get a main course and dessert.

My husband and I treated ourselves to this Michelin one star restaurant located in the castle of the same name when visiting the castles of the Loire Valley. We felt like royalty and enjoyed every minute of the dinner and our stay at the castle. The food was delicious, we savoured every bite of the larger menu (68 Eur) with its matching wines. Although the quality of the service was high, it might be worth mentioning that not all servers speak English, making discussions about choices of wine a tad more difficult.

It was an unusual experience for us, as we prefer more cozy and less luxury restaurants. But this one was worth the price. The lamb was perfectly cooked, it literally melted in mouth. Despite the small size of plates, we felt full at the end of the evening. Staff was extremely polite, the atmosphere completed the overall impression of the Loire Valley. Great evening for couples.

We ate here twice, once from the a la carte menu and on Easter Sunday, where we had the 6 course Easter set menu.

For the a la carte meal, we shared a cote de veau which at 90 EUR wasn't cheap but was juicy, plentiful and perfectly cooked. I went for an amazing cloud-like soufflee de cassis for dessert.

The Easter menu was great too - we approached it with some trepidation as we're not big seafood fans but every course was a taste sensation. For me the seared langoustine with asparagus in a hazelnut broth was the high point, but the hay-flavoured ice cream was also amazingly good!

Both meals were topped and tailed with a set of intriguing amuse-bouches - we loved the shellfish in butter and fennel breadcrumbs.

The local wine list and sommelier service were excellent. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just what you would hope from a "chateau" dining room, and if you're staying in the hotel, you don't even have the pain of having to sign or pay the bill!
