We (me, my wife, 10-year-old son and 12-year old daughter) actually spent an enjoyable afternoon here. I went round taking pictures of the castles, the kids had a go on the (admittedly not that exciting) car track, and they also had fun with the remote-control boats and racing each other through the maze.

One for a nice sunny day, I would say. We had a joint ticket with the aquarium, so not as pricey as it might otherwise have been.

Being afternoon visitors, we only needed (cold) drinks and ice creams, so didn't notice any deficiencies in the catering facilities.

Someone spent years making these scale models of the main Chateaus of the Loire Valley. If you take photos you might think they were the actual Chateaus. It's sad that there is a feeling of neglect around the place and I was bothered that the work of this individual was not respected. Interesting if you don't have the opportunity to visit the Chateaus in person.

To be honest when the car park was mostly empty and shabby we should have turned around. But pressed on. The kids asked to leave 40mins later. It it wasnt for the bouncy castle that probably would have been more like 30.

Place is shabby and unkempt. The moats around the fibreglass model chataux all empty and full of leaves and detritus.

We foolishly added the mini chataux onto the aquarium ticket.....save your money. Wish had been here first to read reviews

Disappointing, travelled with our 3 young children and my parents. Place looked great on brochure we picked up. Got there and the mini chateau's were impressive however the place is tired and not very well maintained. We travelled over an hour to get there, paid €65 approx admission only to find there was no restaurant facilities whatsoever! They have the facilities but they were all closed! As we hadn't brought a picnic, we left after an hour and half to go for lunch! Rides were disappointing with one person running all the rides, children queued to have ride on car on track, of 5 cars only 2 were working!

Overall wasted day, very disappointing!

The idea of this park/attraction is great, and the way it was constructed is pretty novel. There's lots of castles in the Loire valley, but one of the difficulties of appreciating such large structures is actually seeing the whole thing! The Mini-Chateaux park is essentially a helicopter-style overview of the region.

The good:
The park is landscaped to mimic the region, so it's not just mini chateauxs, it's also mini Loire river, mini hills/mountains, mini-trees, mini-train. It's a nice stroll through the area and the miniatures are very well detailed. You can get very close to most of them, and for most of the castles the surrounding grounds are well-modeled, too -- both the french-style gardens and the miniature shrubs/trees to show how the lands are styled. There's a placard near each one giving a brief history, and the details are enough to keep it interesting without getting boring (it's not just for kids). This is a good way to start a trip through the area, since you can spend an hour or so here to get an idea of what the castles are like, perhaps picking a few to visit.

The bad:
It's too expensive. $14 euro per adult! As mentioned in other reviews, it also is in need of upkeep and repair. The chateaus themselves are all in fine condition, and look well-maintained, but the extra stuff -- trains, playground -- need work. It's sort of for kids, but the parts that the kids would like are the parts in most need of repair.

They appear to be doing some major renovations, as I was there in early June 2013 and there were workers doing some repairs and landscaping work (with signs saying "we apologize for the mess" etc.). They apparently have an aquarium exhibit attached to the park which gets no love, and we didn't pay extra to go see it, so I wonder if the high prices are to keep the aquarium going?

This is a novel concept and a neat park, and if you only have a short period of time in the Loire valley/Amboise area but still want to see a lot of castles, this is a good value. However, if you've got time to kill and your kids want to act like medieval princes/princesses, they may end up disappointed and your wallet will feel empty.
