The Novotel is a low-rise modern building located a few km outside Amboise and so is not very convenient for visiting the town or for going out to nearby shops and restaurants. However, it has a great view of town from its location.

The location is quiet, and the rooms are standard Novotel, meaning adequate without being lavish, and well thought out. In-room safe, kettle and flatscreen TV are standard. The room was spacious, which is something of a luxury in France, and the bed was very comfortable for sleeping in.

Breakfast was excellent in the airy dining area, and overall I had a very pleasant experience in this hotel. The location meant it was quiet but was also slightly inconvenient if you don't have your own transport. It is a good place from which to explore Amboise and the surrounding countryside.

We spent two nights here as part of a tour of northern France. Our room was large and well equipped with very necessary air conditioning.

It took about 30 minutes to walk into Amboise but as it was uphill on the way back, we took a taxi.

We ate dinner and breakfast both days and were satisfied with our meals.

I spent a couple of hours on one afternoon by the swimming pool. It was very relaxing and enjoyable as I virtually had it to myself. The view across to the Chateau was stunning.

The rooms are large and air conditioned. The hotel is clean and all areas are well maintained. The location is great, on a highway, just at the Amboise city limits.

The breakfast was very good and well worth the money.

Not all of the staff are good. One of the front desk ladies' English isn't good enought o communicate the necessary information. We found the front desk was constantly under staffed and the wait time to talk to someone is always very long.

If you just want a quiet place to sleep, this is an excellent hotel.

A lovely hotel with friendly staff which was an excellent place to stay on the way to the Dordogne. Pool is a fantastic bonus and we asked for and received a room with a view of the chateau across the valley. Very impressed and would certainly stay there again. Quiet, clean and excellent facilities.

Room Tip: Ask fr a room with a view of the chateau.

We stayed here en route to south of France. Family rooms are good value, clean, relatively spacious.
The pool is pretty good, although could do with more sunbeds and option to get a drink poolside. There are tennis courts and crazy golf as well as Xbox and pool table in reception.
The restaurant menu is limited and the children's food was poor. My steak was really overcooked and was missing sauce which I ordered. Wine was ok, but nothing special. Breakfast was ok, but we were put off by LOTS of flies on the food which didn't have covers. We stuck to toast and pots of yoghurt. Coffee was bad.
Hotel has loads of parking and was very quiet at night.
OK for a stopover - book well ahead for really cheap prices - but don't expect too much from the food.
