“Less good than it thinks it is”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

L'Epicerie seems to think that it is a gourmet restaurant but we found many of the 'flourishes' on dishes to be either superfluous or just downright odd... if more attention were paid to careful cooking of good main ingredients (a sad piece of undercooked turbot being the lowlight of our meal) we would have been far happier. Could be a good place (and clearly some other reviewers did better than we did) but I can't recommend it on the basisof o ur experience.

“Charming”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2012

Upon the recommendation of our B&B hostess 3 of us dined here in April and ordered off the least expensive set menu. Sushi and Onion soup, fish and pork legs, a nice cheese course and a variety of desserts. Service was excellent, food was good, and we loved the atmosphere.

“Just one defect: no air conditioner!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2012 via mobile

My wife and me went to this restaurant in August 2012 after reading TA comments.

We had rilettes and terrine du chef as starters: excellent both of them. As the main we tried the Pavé and confit du canard, again taste was brilliant. A small plate with three delicious portions of cheese came later to preceed the dessert, that was good, but not at the same level than the former dishes.

Unfortunately, this dinner took place on a very hot summer night, an the establishment has no air conditioner which spoiled a little bit the experience...

In any case it is worthy to go there!!

“Wonderful food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

Made this reservation based on Rick Steve's book and wasn't disappointed at all. Some of the best food of our 8 day Normandy/Loire trip. Loved the escargot and the lamb! One wish would be less loud Americans eating there!

“Nothing stands out”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2012 via mobile

After waiting nearly 30 minutes at our table, we hunted down our waiter. He looked incredibly hot and tired. Everything was so slow. Our mediocre meal took nearly 2 hours. Tuna was dry and tasteless. The pork was in a type of bar-b-q sauce that was spicy. Several in the group spoke no French. The menu ( totally in French) was hard to navigate with no help from our waiter. At the end of the meal we hunted down our waiter for the final time but our check was wrong by almost 15€.
