From the train station, The Rue des Forges is an easy fifteen minute walk over flat terrain. It is a lovely area of old timbered houses, quaint shops, and cobblestone. It is a gem for historians and those who love photography.
The street marks the heart of Old Dijon. The great thing here is that you can quickly access other streets in the area, which are equally impressive due to a bit more solitude. Other places, such as major churches and he arts museum are also an easy walk. Many early mornings feature street vendors selling everything from clothes to fresh fruit.
If you have only a couple of hours, you can (from the train) take a nice walk through this area. It is lovely, walkable, and has a charm all it's own.
