“Good location and value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

Stayed for two nights in Sept 2013. The hotel is conveniently located in a quiet part of the city within easy walking distance of all the city centre attractions. Our room had a double bed and was of a good size with separate WC and shower-rooms. The reception staff were helpful - although it is essential (and polite) to have knowledge of some basic French. There was a small garage facility which is essential as parking in Dijon is a nightmare. Overall we were very satisfied. And what a fantastic place Dijon is - food and wine to die for - as well as historic sights.

The location was perfect. Right in the city, very close to a beautiful park, and on a quiet street. Everything you'd want to see is within easy walking distance. I loved the artwork in the hotel. The room and bathroom was clean, and the breakfast was adequate.

My only complaint (and it's not a small one, unfortunately) is that the bed was uncomfortable. If you like a firm mattress and a cheap price though, this is the place!

Close to the city centre with secure parking for motorcycles, this is a decent budget hotel. Room was comfortable enough, the breakfast was worth the €6 charged and staff all very friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money.

The hotel is good enough, for budget traveling it is fine. The location is close to city center. If I would stay there for a few days, I would consider other options, as there is no coffe maker in the room and the rooms are not that big. breakfast is good and relatively cheap. The hotel does not have an elevator and our room had only one electrical socket plus the one in the bathroom. Staff's English is extremely limited, they only speak french and communication is difficult unless you know French. The hotel has an underground parking, for about 9 cars I would say but we never had trouble parking. Walls are thin, I could hear our neighbor cough and also shower. No A/C in the rooms, no problem for us as the outside temperature was OK but on hotter days thid might be an issue.

Room Tip: Ask for a garden view room, the ones that look to te street may be a little bit noisy.

I don't know why one reviewer has written that the hotel is on a busy roundabout - actually it's down a quiet side street about 10 minutes walk from the historic centre. The hotel is perfectly comfortable, though not in any way luxurious. The rooms are small, but not cramped and the decor is clean, if not exactly up-to-date. There is some parking below the hotel at 4 Euros a night, and worth booking as otherwise parking might be an irritation. I would have given a 3 star 'average' review, however the friendliness of the staff lift an otherwise unexceptional hotel into another category, and I will certainly stay here again on my next visit.

Clean, centrally located, with very friendly and helpful staff, what more could you want? Well maybe free underground parking - check, tasty breakfast at 6 euros a head - check, total cost, 60 euros overnight! Bargain or what? Can not recommend the Victor Hugo highly enough

Hotel Victor Hugo made us feel at home. Everything was spotless, we backed up to a garden, the parking garage was convenient and we walked to everything in downtown Dijon in just a few minutes. The breakfast was an excellent one for the price - 6 Euros. The staff were helpful with everything that we needed - from where to get the best mustard, to an old remembered part of town and excellent restaurants.

Dijon is a great place to visit. The downtown area - all easy walking from Victor Hugo - is beautiful, large parks, and large open, walkers only, shopping esplanades.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back are quieter.
