Having lived in Italy for most of my childhood I am very fond of good Italian food. And this restaurant had great food! The ingredients were fresh and full of flavour.

The decor was also very interesting and made for a cozy evening. The cafe tables and the sofas meant you are closer together and this makes for a more intimate evening.
I would suggest this with your partner or a bunch of friends! I went with family...not ideal.

So why the three stars? The reception we were given was very cold, disinterested, from a waitress who clearly did not wish or care to engage with her customers to make them share the experience that this restaurant so encouragingly promises from the decor! Disappointing.

And secondly, but more importantly, the price of this restaurant is outrageous! The mozzarella starter is 20euro !!!! It was indeed tasty but the price does not seem justified.

Lower costs and a few more smiles would make this place top of the chart - it's just not there.

After almost three weeks in France lunch at Little Italy offered a pleasant departure from somewhat generic French menus. This little gem was opened five months ago by a young and charming team who deserve huge success.

Located in Rue Verrerie, part of the antiques precinct of the lovely town of Dijon, Little Italy offers a few outside tables, a deli-like counter displaying a tempting array of Italian delicacies, and a trendy eclectic dining area behind. The furniture is a hotchpotch of tables grouped with sofas, lounge chairs and dining chairs; and high trestles and stools for larger groups or communal dining. Add to that interesting wall hangings and cheeky decorative items, as well as an open cooking area which entices with gorgeous aromas and the sound of the deli-slicer – and that sums up the atmosphere of Little Italy.

There is a real conviviality as happy diners share ideas about what they have just eaten and found to be excellent. The menu is simple Italian – antipasti, salads, pizzas, pastas etc. My husband and I had an antipasto platter with a selection of top quality cured meats, olives, a delicious Italian version of ratatouille, and a basket of home baked breads. Then we shared a generous portion of white truffle ravioli in a light creamy sauce, followed by a rum baba with a citron syrup and coffee with tiny amoretti biscuits. There is a good selection of wines by the glass, as well as very good beer on tap. Prices are reasonable and produce quality is excellent.

The staff are young and relaxed, at the same time as efficient, friendly and knowledgeable about the food and wines on offer. They also speak really good English which makes life easier for a lot of us.

We were instantly drawn to this restaurant by the decor and decided that we wanted to eat there even before we had seen the menu! ( a first for us!)The inside of the restaurant looked so enticing with a collection of different types of seating - sofas and low chairs as well as counter top tables that we couldn't resist booking a table. It is a mixture of industrial and shabby chic which stands out from all the other places we had seen in Dijon. It is also possible to sit outside. The entrance is infact a shop which sells italian food stuffs which all look delicious. What we loved about this restaurant was the quality of the produce used. Fresh, homemade organic tomato sauce on the pizzas and a really good selection of quality cold meats. This is real food!
After a starter and pizza we were too full to tackle a desert. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Italien food and who is visiting Dijon!
