This historic place is really awesome. The architecture and refine designs are really superb especially the roof tiles. When you stand in the middle of the courtyard, you will feel as if you were transported to the medieval time.

If you like looking at a load of paintings by artists you've never heard of then this museum is for you!
There is one room with a few impressionist paintings which for me was the only thing of interest. Sadly the museum is a bit of a maze and so is difficult to find your way around.
At least it is free.

The recently reopened museum is a wonderful collection of paintings, sculptures and religious works housed in renovated rooms of the former ducal palace. The quality, condition and display of the collection is outstanding. Of most note are the tombs of some of the former Dukes of Burgundy, which in their newly restored condition are truly spectacular, and some amazing carved, gilded altarpieces. And remarkably, entry is free!

the curator needs to be complimented, lovely display, lighting of the part which was recently re-done . not sure why one of the people looking after the museum rooms was allowing himslef to smoke an electronic sigarette

I visited Dijon on the European Heritage weekend, so the place was busy as many buildings usually closed to the public were open. This museum is usually open but on this day it was really busy. But it is a very interesting history of Burgundy and its Dukes. Worth a visit. Dijon is a very elegant city.
