“Well prepared food”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

Located in the old market area with many competitors around it this little modern style French restaurant was a good find.
We sat outside shielded by the canopy .
modern contemporary inside the furnishings are simple and functional.
The food and choices available were very good and beautifully presented.
Little choice for veggies.
Good wine list and quality was fine
Service was perhaps a little perfunctory and systematic , but they knew their jobs and delivered everything ina timely manner.we would recommend booking ahead every time which was easy.
If you want a warm friendly welcome and so fawning, look elsewhere.
But they prepare high quality foods in a local style- Burgundian

“Busy restaurant next to the market.”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

After reading reviews on Tripadvisor we decided to try this restaurant. We went there to book on our way to the market at 10 for luch at 12.It was just as well that we booked as it was packed, with many people being turned away.We tried 2 different set menus-3 courses. All tasty.Wine by the glass affordable and quirky touches like the bread rolls in a packet and the cutlery.I would try it again.

“Quelle surprise!”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

Just opposite the great market, this restaurant was recommended for lunch by the neighbouring greengrocer. (She does fantastic pain d'epices at Christmas.)

She was right. We had to wait half an hour to get a table but that's no trouble as there is so much to see and do in the area. Table ready on time and a great nouvelle-ish lunch. How can you cram so much flavour into a little dot of pureed grilled pepper? The taste buds loved the whole event - as did the wallet. One nice touch is that the coffee was Nespresso, which I find delicious but much too expensive for home use.

People have remarked on the service. Our experience is that it was fine, though a bit ragged when things got hectic. Nothing to be over-concerned about.

“Unfriendly rude service”
Reviewed August 13, 2012

We unfortunately cannot confirm other reviews by saying how good the food was, but we unfortunately can confirm other reviews by saying how bad the service is.
We had a reservation for 19:00 and arrived between 18:55 and 19:00. Some of the staff were sitting at a table in front of the restaurant eating. I asked if we could sit inside and was told to come back in ten minutes. I said that we had a reservation for 19:00 and was told in French "We're still eating". Needless to say we did not come back in ten minutes. Would it really have been so difficult to show us to a table and give us menus?
We went to L'Escargot in rue Jean Jaccques Rousseau and enjoyed a good meal there. Another good restaurant in rue Jean Jacques Rousseau is Aux Enfants Terribles.
