“Hotel de France Tast'vin, Beaune”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

After following recommendations from Trip Advisor site we decided to try this hotel and it was exactly as stated. We found an excellent family run hotel with a not to be missed evening meal and good value breakfast. Friendly attentive service and good value for Beaune. We'll be back.

Although on the surface, this looks like a two star near a French station, but in reality, this is a terrific small hotel, with superb food and management. Breakfast and especially dinner are more than excellent, and the family run management is attentive in all respects. Plus the rates are a bargain for Beaune. Further, my room was fine, but what shines here is the food, the location, and the service, all of which, to my tastes, are excellent. A happy stay for me.

Room Tip: If you like trains, as I do, get a room looking out at the station.

The DeSerios will bring the old hotel up to standard with their energy and attention to detail all the while being friendly, courteous and helpful to their customers. The value now is great and the convenience to the train station significant to those who use the rails for travel. We can't wait to go back again some year and see the improvements. We had breakfast there every morning and enjoyed the special, gourmet Easter dinner in the Terminus diningroom.

We stayed in Beaune overnight on our way back to Paris. The hotel is very convenient for drivers and train travelers, because it is right next to the Beaune train station. I was concerned that the train noise would bother me overnight, but the hotel is pretty well sound-insulated when the windows are closed. The management is friendly and helpful. The room was adequate but by no means 5-star. The bathroom could use a little sprucing up, but again, it was adequate for our needs. This is a good value for a budget hotel overnight stay.

Stayed at this hotel for a night on a return trip to the South of France. The hotel was easy to find, the proprietor was extremely helpful and spoke very good english. The room was clean, pleasant and comfortable. The hotel itself is located just outside the town's medieval wall, but only a five minute walk to the 'centre ville'. We decided to try the Hotel Restaurant in the evening instead of walking back to the Restaurants in town. What a great move, the food is absolutely superb. We had a 4 course meal, well 5 really if you count the amuse bouche, for 23e each. There are a selection of regional dishes to choose from and everything was of the utmost quality. You are presented with an amuse bouche before the starter. I then chose poached eggs in a red wine sauce, which were divine, followed by, pork in a creamy mustard sauce, served with vegetables. There was then a cheese course, with a selection of 3 different kinds of cheese, which were extremely tasty. I had to decline a sweet as I was too full, but my husband had the citron/blackcurrant sorbet with creme de cassis and said it was gorgeous. The hotel staff could not do enough for you and the proprietor recommended a wonderful bottle of local wine to go with our meal. Without a doubt the best meal we ate in France. If you stay here, you must try the food, its 1st class and excellent value.

I don't know if we were unlucky and got the wrong room, however furniture were very old, carpets on the floor and shower curtains quite dirty and didn't smell good. it's very close to the Train Station and trains don't stop during night.
I wouldn't come back, even for one fourth of the price.

Thank you for your comments that always help us to progress. Cleanliness is our prriority. All our rooms, bathrooms, carpets, curtains etc are carrefully cleaned up and washed regularly if not every day. We appologise if your room was not up to that standart when you stayed with us. The furnitures in the hotel and rooms are tipical local wood furnitures that suits most of the client that come to visit the Burgundy Region. We are sorry if our hotel was not to your taste in terms of style. Every rooms are different in our Establishment as opposed to big chain hotels. Should you not appreciate the style of the room you have been allocated, we will always try our best to pick the one you'll like.

The hotel is about 20 yards from the railway station which was ideal as we traveled by train but obviously has the downside that this proximity brings. It didn't impinge too much. Pleasant walk into City Centre (15mins gentle stroll) and excellent cycle hire shop is on the way (recommended).
Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was good and breakfast was fine too. Rooms were well cleaned.
However, the hotel is around 100 years old and the decor and furnishings are consequently somewhat old and tired although I'm sure that this will be upgraded over time, but if you are looking for luxury this isn't going to be on your list of places to be.
