My husband and I were looking for a place to stay near the center of Beaune. We had a really hard time finding a place that was well rated and in the location we desired since it was a French holiday weekend. Before we go anywhere we always spend a lot of time reading reviews for different hotels, restaurants, etc. Most of the places we liked were completely booked or only available for 1-2 nights of our stay. We found the website for this B&B and decided to take a chance on it even though there were no reviews. We are so glad that we did!
Sandrine and her husband recently remodeled their home to add multiple apartment like rooms. The room we stayed in had its own private entrance with two full sized beds (Clos D'Roy) and a beautiful bathroom to ourself. The room was immaculate and everything was new and fresh. The room had beautiful slate tile and modern finishes, which we loved because we both have allergies. The bathroom had a modern sink, towel heater and bathtub with shower. There was a separate toilet. Our room also had its own ac unit which was nice and relatively quiet.
Sandrine was a wonderful hostess. We felt terrible because we got stuck in the French Alps on our drive from the South of France to Beaune and called Sandrine to let her know we were going to be very late. She insisted on waiting up for us. Upon arrival on the street there just appears to be a large stone wall with orange garage where you press a button to call. Upon Sandrine opening the garage door, we realized we had entered an oasis. We drove our car in and parked in the beautiful courtyard that stands in the middle of the property. In the morning we looked outside of our window and saw that the courtyard had a beautiful garden and sparkling swimming pool. We went down to the main house for breakfast and enjoyed a spread of croissants, soft boiled eggs, local cheese, apricot tart and orange juice and coffee. Sandrine gave us a local map and told us some great places to check out and offered to make us dinner reservations if needed.
The following days' breakfast also included some local meat, chocolate tart, grapefruit juice, local jams and yogurt. Everyday had something a little different but it was a wonderful and peaceful way to start the morning. We could eat breakfast everyday in the dining room or outside in the courtyard looking at the pool and courtyard. The pool is even available for guests for swimming.
On our last night we asked Sandrine for some suggestions for dinner and asked for her to make us a reservation. The restaurant was delicious and we are glad we took her up on her offer. We do not speak any French other than small phrases we learned for our trip. Sandrine, speaks some English but is clearly working on improving. However, we had no issues communicating together.
All in all, this oasis which is run by a hard-working and sweet family is truly a Beaune gem. We would recommend for anyone to stay there. We don't have kids but they are definitely kid friendly.
Thanks again, Sandrine! We hope to see you again in a few years!!
