“Beautiful hotel in perfect location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2010

This luxury hotel had all of the needed amenities and then some. The bathroom was huge and had a large tub and attractive black tiling. There was parking on the premises, although it is a bit difficult to maneuver the car in the small area. The only complaint is that the breakfast was not included in the price - it was a bit misleading because the staff pushes breakfast, but never tells you that it is extra. The staff was very helpful in recommending restaurants in the area and making reservations. The hotel is covenient to many restaurants and shops in Beaune.

As others have already mentioned, this is a boutique hotel with only 7 rooms. It feels like you're staying at a someone's townhouse. Staff is very friendly and service was excellent. Room with king-size bed was nice, but bathroom was nicer (black marble, nice tub, rainshower, Hermes toiletries). Location was great, right in the center of Beaune, so we walked everywhere. Parking could be an issue, although we did get one of the two spots right in front of the hotel (at an additional fee), so I would recommend discussing with the front desk prior to arrival by car. I have to say I was disappointed with breakfast given the rest of the experience. It was good quality, but very basic continental breakfast - I expected more selections for the price they charge for it. We had a great dinner at their restaurant next door. It was a wonderful stay overall and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

We stayed on a road trip, so unfortunately the location and lack of parking was a problem for the car! Otherwise the convenience in the centre of town was great, the room very good. Breakfast was a bit of a rip off and I suggest you eat in the square just a few metres away.

L'Hotel de Beaune is a small (7 rooms) hotel perfectly located in central beaune. The staff is helpful and the rooms ( we had the medium priced of the 3 levels) are smallish but stylish with large modern and beautiful bathrooms.
There is a restaurant which is part of the hotel across the courtyard which is excellent and has some transcendental burgundy wines on the list including many which are not transcendentally priced. Ask the sommelier if in doubt about some of the producers or vintages. Of course there is lots of other good eating and drinking in beaune but we had our most memorable meal at the hotel.
Only negative note is that you are in a small city and there is some street noise, most particularly for us was a very noisy garbage truck at about 4am on a Monday night.
Also, while there is wireless internet on the ground floor it does not extend to the rooms (where there is plug-in ethernet) We got around this by creating our own wifi network using the internet sharing feature on a macbook - it worked great and covered the whole building.

This luxury boutiquehotel has only 7 rooms. They are all quality, but quality always costs. The bathroom really is amazing. But the service was even more exceptional. My husband and I bought champagne from the many surrounding wine stores every day to drink in our rooms later on in the evenings. The kind receptionist happily brought us beautiful champagne buckets filled with ice along with two crystal flutes every single night of our stay there without charge. In fact, the cost of the room is made up with all the extra perks. For example, I paid less for a delicious café au lait brought up to my room in a beautiful service set for less than I paid for a single cup of coffee in some seedy brasserie within Beaune. One large pot of tea (yielding five cups worth of tea) cost half the price of a single cup of tea in a mid-priced Italian restaurant! If you are running low on Hermés bath products, the staff will bring more up to you at absolutely no charge. They have a proper maid service who discreetly attends to your room twice a day!

The restaurant is truly worthy of its Michelin mention. The chef is a perfectionist. The food was very fine and creative. The crystal stemware, silver setting, Limoge porcelin table seting, and service were also flawless. I'm quite a difficult client to please, but there isn't one bad thing I can say about this restaurant! The homemade ice cream was one of a kind. I ordered three servings!

Again, I'm a difficult client to please and I can say that I was absolutely pleased with this hotel/restaurant! The service is what really sticks out. When checking out of the hotel, the entire staff bid us goodbye. There must have been a dozen people working to satisfy the needs of the clients occupying merely 7 rooms.

I highly recommend this hotel!

L'hotel is a fabulous property. We've been staying in "Chateaux-type" hotels for 2 weeks and it was a pleasure to be in a "contemporary" European hotel for a change. The staff is amazing - they speak very good English and are so accommodating. The breakfast is served in the lobby - beautifully set tables - wonderful dishes and cutlery - OR in your room if you prefer. We had coffee in our room every morning and then had breakfast in the lobby. The breakfast is a typical French breakfast but the croissants are just a little bit better, cheese a little more exotic, and the fruit is fresher and more interesting!

The decor is wonderful - bathrooms are divine - black Italian marble floors, huge shower with "Rain shower head" - nice to have a "real" shower!! Bathtub is also beautiful! King size bed (a real one - not 2 twins put together) with wonderful linens.

We had free WIFI in our room too!

We'd highly recommend this hotel - it's definitely higher end but worth the extra dollars!

  • Liked — the quality of the room decor and the staff
  • Disliked — nothing

We have made several visits to Beaune over the years and have never found a hotel that we wished to return to. But our son told us the he felt this hotel could be what we were looking for. We received the impressions it was a newly created or converted to a hotel from an existing 'mansion', but could be wrong.

So we booked two nights stay in August. Unfortunately the hotel's restaurant (which is in an adjacent building) was closed for its annual holiday so we can't comment on the food.

Our spacious room was everything one could wish for The bed was king-size, the furnishing were elegant and it was air conditioned (which was a blessing but which I guess one would expect for the price). Also the staff were delightful and extremely helpful.

Breakfast was elegant but was served in the entrance lounge with, most curiously, a large TV playing non-stop pop videos(?) but with the sound turned down. Wierd! However, I imagine that when the restaurant is open breakfast is served there - hopefully sans videos!

Another nice touch is that the hotel has a video library so one can watch a film on the modern TV in one's room. This might sound a curious thing to wish to do but my wife and I are getting on in years and find it difficult to enjoy a good night's sleep too soon after having dinner - something that is normally larger on holiday than we would have at home. Reading a book is OK but a film can fill in that gap whilst one's digestion gets to work!

Most folk like a luxurious bathroom and her one would certainly get that but I felt the designers/installers should be brought back - and soon. All was elegant and ultra modern but neither of the two modern basins would retain their water so the tap needed to be kept running. The shower floor was impressive black marble but when my wife used shampoo both of us were completely unable to stand up in it. I really mean that. The floor became so slippery that one litterally slid towards the drain! But by the evening this problem no longer remained.

The bathroom had a mass of controls - towel rail heating, and under-floor heating - but when I tried to adjust the modern shower the top of the control came away in my hand!

I only mention all this in case things gradually deteriorate and members find the expected perfection just wasn't there. But hopefully the hotel will sort out these minor problems.

Apart from the bathroom problems that can be easily put right there is one thing I feel the hotel should attend to. It stands in a very narrow one-way street, which means that it would be ideal if one could drive in in order to unload one's luggage. But for some reason the hotel allows a couple of cars to park there (there is only room for two). This means that if one has a snack or a drink in the courtyard one is looking at two cars, but, more importantly, it means that one has to unload in the road whilst possibly bringing all traffic to a halt.

Finally, is it value for money? Well, agreed, it isn't cheap but we are from the UK where hotels are generally ridiculously expensive so we are accustomed to high prices. And apart from the few very minor problems' I have mentioned this is a truly delight hotel to stay in and we shall unhesitatingly return when next in Beaune.
