Description: Located in a magnificent 19th-century wine-grower's mansion adjoining the Hostellerie, our gourmet restaurant welcomes diners for an unforgettable experience in a refined setting. The chef and his passionate team offer inventive and flavoursome cuisine inspired by the Burgundy region and served either in a suite of characterful lounges with period wood panelling, coving and parquet flooring, or on the beautiful summer terrace surrounded by parkland. The menu highlighting local producers changes with the seasons and will help you discover the secrets of the local cuisine. Burgundy wines have a prominent place in our wine list, which has over 400 entries.

Burgundy is always a good place to stop when travelling from Nice to Calais. We have stayed in the hotel before when our car broke down, but not eaten in the restaurant.

We thought that their package of New Year’s Eve in the hotel, dinner, a bottle of champagne and breakfast sounded great.

We were not disappointed. It was a six course dinner, which was perfectly cooked and in portions that did not leave you bloated at the end. Wonderful foie gras mousse, langoustine tails, firm turbot, capon and two desserts. The stand out was the chocolate dessert a millimetre thick in the shape of a comma filled with a crème. The only tiny quibble is that the chef could learn from The English how to cook parsnips, these were al denté when they would have been so much better roasted till they were caramelised.

We had a wonderful glass of Meursault sold by the glass at the beginning and then were disappointed by a half bottle of a different Meursault, we should have had another two of the “by the “ glass” Meursault which was near perfect. The disappointment was made up for by a wonderful bottle of Gevrey Chambertin.

The service was perfect, relaxed and efficient. We speak good French but I don’t know if it was deliberate that we were served by a Frenchman who spoke perfect English: if it was, it was a kind touch.

Finally the restaurant is three small intimate rooms beautifully decorated. In summer you eat outside on the terrace.

We enjoyed a beautiful meal at Le Clos du Cedre after a long day of exploring. The space itself is gorgeous, in an old house that is well-preserved. We opted for a fixed price menu and had the lobster ravioli, oeufs meurette, lamb and cheese platter. Though they offer mostly traditional dishes, the recipes are updated and reinterpreted to bring new life to each dish. A highlight was the fantastic chocolate grand crus dessert. The service was very professional and personal, and at no point did we feel rushed. It's an expensive night out but it's well worth it for an intimate and upscale take on classic Bourguignon cuisine.

The restaurant at the Cedric in Beaune is a first class experience in Haut French cuisine in Burgundy. You can order a la carte or from a small tasting menu through a gourmet’ s adventure in eating. Fresh fish, shellfish, pork, veal prepared with sauces to match along with formidable desserts. A wine list with Burgundies not often found, full bar.
A top French restaurant.

Our group makes a point of having dinner at Le Clos du Cedre every year during our trip to Beaune. And weather permitting we always eat outside under the stars and pine trees. It is a magical experience. Le Clos du Cedre is what you picture in a fairytale a French provincial restaurant to be. The building is a former chateau with a beautiful courtyard. The lighting at night makes the setting seem like something out of a Disney movie. The food, wine and service are what you would expect of a Michelin starred restaurant. If you want a perfect dinner experience in Burgundy, come here.
