Chateau de Chorey Les Beaune

On the positive side, the chateau is quaint with nice furnishings and the included breakfast is delicious and cheerfully served by Madame Germain. The chateau's three dogs are quite cute and friendly too!

However, there were some glitches. Although an exchange of e-mails had indicated that the form of payment would be via credit card, when we arrived, we were surprised to be asked to pay for our stay in cash upon check-out in two days, being told that the credit card connection had been damaged by a storm. This meant that we had to search for an ATM and incur associated international banking charges; had we not had the required cash in the bank, the chateau owner advised that we could get a cash advance through our credit card, which would have meant high interest charges not only for the cash, but also for the numerous credit card charges that we had incurred to date on our France holiday. This was after our waiting outside in a down-pour of rain for the owner to show up in a car as we rang a big outdoor bell, since there was no one in the office (on the next day, we saw a family checking in having the same issues locating the owners and we see on the comments above that at least one other person has had similar problems checking in). Also, our family was placed in the suite called Les Bons Ores as we needed a suite with a bedroom for parents and a separate room for 2 children and a bathroom to be shared by both rooms; if you book this suite, please note that the only way to access the 2nd bedroom is to walk through the bathroom, so that if anyone is using the bathroom, the occupiers of the 2nd bedroom cannot come out of their room nor can the occupiers of the 1st bedroom go into the 2nd bedroom.

well situated B&B in a nice medieval(renewed!) chateau.Nice suite(two rooms) with common bathroom which asks some organisation.No Tv or radio but not a problem;
Breakfast (le PETIT dejeuner) à la francaise but ok.Family atmosphere thanks to a gentil owner(hard working with the vendange) and serviable lady of the house.
Good(very) restaurants in surroundings and a golf at 10min.
Excellent stop to the south or for a stay in this well known region.

I searched Trip Advisor for places to stay in the wine country as part of our honeymoon in France. I happened upon Beaune, and then found this chateau and liked what I saw. I booked a stay and shortly afterward realized I had booked the wrong 2 days.According to their website/booking rules, they have very strict cancellation policies. I think it's something like if you cancel within 30 days of your stay, you're charged 50% of the room total. I was really worried about this, and emailed the owner. Emailed the owner and it wasn't an issue :)
Finding the place was pretty easy...but checking in was another story. The owner wasn't there and after ringing a bell and walking around for awhile, we found a note that said to call a number. Our cell phones didn't have service though. So we head into town looking for a payphone. They only take phone cards, which we didn't have. At that point we were pretty upset....we drove around for awhile and found Beaune's tourism building and went in asking for help. The lady behind the desk was very helpful and called the number for us. She spoke to someone in French for awhile and then we headed back to the house and waited for a bit for her to arrive to let us into the house. It was a pretty big hassle, honestly.
We booked the Les Vignes Franches room. It was nice. Nothing fancy...but it was nice. We weren't planning on spending much time in the room anyway though.
Breakfast was an awesome experience. Mr. Germain was so nice and the food was delicious. The property itself is gorgeous.
The rest of the experience is a bit of a blur to me, as I came down with the flu the first night there :(

Oh...and buy some of his wine. It is FANTASTIC.

All in all, I really liked this place. It was such a nice change from the normal hotels. I mean, this place is surrounded by a moat and has a tower from the 13th century on it. That is awesome.

My wife and I stayed at the Chateau for five nights and found it perfect. M. Germain took pains to be helpful and accommodating, but the truth is that nothing can beat the Chateau's ambiance. This is like living in a postcard of rural France. Rooms have high ceilings and poster beds with modern bathrooms. Ours looked out on a stone courtyard and two medieval towers. On the other side is the vineyard. The air is like a grape bath for the nose. Breakfasts were on picnic tables outside, and features freshest croissants and homemade jams. You can jog through nearby vineyards, admiring the splendid fields and hills of the Cote d'Or. Or just walk the moat and lounge in the quiet backyard. The Internet works perfectly in the paneled study, where you can select one of the estate's fine wines for the room. M. Germain can also take you to the cellar for a wine tasting. The location is perfect for visits to charming Beaune or road trips up and down the Cote. A truly sublime hotel.

Our family of 8 stayed here in three of the rooms, Les Cras for 185 Euro, Les Teurons for 225 Euro, and the suite Les Bons Ores with two rooms for 250 Euro per night. The rooms were spacious and clean and each had it's own large, clean bathroom with a tub/shower combo.
I loved that we could leave the windows open for cool, fresh air without the worry of flies or mosquitos coming in. To reach our rooms we climbed a circular, stone staircase. For wireless internet service we brought our laptop down to the sitting area outside of the breakfast room. It's a cozy room that is enjoyable to hang out in. Breakfast was my most memorable of the whole trip to France and was included in the price of the room. We were seated at a large table that was set with a lovely table cloth in a dining room that had the large doors open wide. We were loving the fact that in July we could enjoy the cool air wafting in from outside while we ate. They served fresh French bread and croissants with homemade jams of cherry, rhubarb and raspberry. They cooked up an egg to order if you wanted it. We had good coffee, tea and hot chocolate. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The owners were very friendly and helpful. They were prompt in their replies to my e-mails and were very good about keeping our reservation for us. Mr. Germain was very helpful with making reservations for us at two restaurants, La Ciboulette (a tasty French restaurant that we loved which was quaint and had fair prices) and Le Cheval Noir (pretty good food overall, but the service wasn't great. I would try Caves Madeleine if I went back to Beaune).
Upon arrival Mr. Germain wasn't there, but left a note with a phone number for us to call. Lucky for us we had a cell phone with us. His very friendly and accommodating sister came over and checked us in that night.
To sum up:
We loved staying here and would recommend it to others. The grounds are very pretty to walk around, the rooms are comfortable with light, spacious bathrooms, and the owners are very friendly and helpful.

adored our stay here last week - am really very glad we didn't stay in beaune itself. the chateau is lovely, ask francois to show you the downstairs wine cellar which is pretty empty, but very cool to see the caves as they were used. the room was huge and the breakfast simple but good. loved going for runs from the chateau. highly recommend

We stayed two nights here and loved the quiet little village surrounding the chateau, the moats, turrets, and ambiance of a chateau set in a vineyard. The rooms made us feel like we were the lord and lady of a house from long ago! Wonderful modern bathrooms and a tasty breakfast served by our gracious French host. He spoke English well too. you do need a car since it is in a rural location. Our wine tour hosts picked us up from here.

Room Tip: We had a room with a balcony, but all seemed nice.
